Default Those Sailing on Conquest 8/26/07--Might Be Traffic Delay

All lanes between Galveston Island and the mainland will be closed on 8/26/07 for about an hour from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. according to an article on KHOU.COM. Works crews are going to be using explosives to demolish the old causeway. For anyone coming into Galveston on Sunday, you might want to plan around this closure. If you want to read the article, the link is [url=http://www.khou.com/topstories/stories/khou070824_jj_causewayclosed.66244e07.html[/url]

Really smart to post this. Many folks do arrive on island early and will be delayed by this.

There just isn't a good go around for it either, unless you are east of Houston and go east on 10 then come south to the island.

How many more explosions will it take to rid us of those darn bridge pilings ?!

If I weren't on call at work this weekend we would meet y'all for a pre cruise foo foo drink on the island.

Chance of rain in Houston area is 60% this weekend, just FYI.

Trip:

I thought about you when I saw the article. I am just thankful for you that the demolition is taking place this weekend. I know it has to be done, but I feel for those that might be delayed coming or going this coming weekend.

Phil&Liz:

I agree, I hope this isn't going to be a traffic nightmare. Not a great way to start your cruise. In addition, there is the chance of 60 percent rain.

The 4B's will be leaving on 9/9/07. I think someone had mentioned the possibility about having a pre-cruise drink. You might want to keep checking the boards to see if anything will work out. Several of us that live in the Houston area have gotten together for lunch. We would love to meet others in Houston. [/b]
