When we went to Key West on Glory, the ship docked at a US Navy sub base. The regular dock was under construction so can't help you there. Progresso is a vacation spot for Mexican nationals. Quaint little town with a 5 mile long pier that you dock at the end. They bus (free) all passengers from the ship to the mainland and back whether you're booked on an excursion or not. Pedestrians aren't permitted on the pier. We took a bus tour to Meridia, lots of ancient Mayan/Spanish culture in that old town. Well worth the trip. There's a beach right at the end of the pier with many small bars/restaurants/shops lining the beach. Here's a photo of the beach, you can see the pier in the background.
OK we understand that the glory will have a itinary change from belieze, and costa maya to KEY WEST and Progreso does anyone have info about either place, and where does the ship dock in key west?
Just off the Legend 8/26. We went to Key West thanks to Dean. We docked at the regular pier easy walk around town. A crew member was surprised said we were supposed to dock at Navy dock. He said had we it would have been about a 15 min trolley ride (free) to town.
Hmmm, guess everyone goes to the Navy base now. If that's the case, you may want to wait aboard for awhile so the tram lines die down. Since it is a US military installation, you aren't permitted to wonder anywhere from the pier w/o military ID. It took about 60-90 minutes for the lines to die down and we walked right off the ship and onto a tram. We had no waiting at all in Progresso, but we also had an excursion booked.
