Carnival Sensation S&S cards

Can someone please clarify if the sensation uses one room key for everything or does it have two seperate cards, one for a room key and one for everything else?

just sailed Sensation last month. Each person will receive their own S&S card and each person will receive their own room key card. Here are our S&S card and one of our room key cards:

Is this being done on all Carnival ships now or just the older vessels? I've never seen this on Carnival to date.

When I went on the Legend in July of '06 they had one card for everything.

The smaller, older carnival ships use separate room keys and S&S cards. Also, the Sensation room safe uses any card you want to use that has a magnetic strip to open and close. You CAN NOT use your SS card and it says not to right on the safe.
I used my room key from the hotel I stayed in the night prior to boarding and it worked just fine.
You will want to take some card to use that won't be a big loss if it's demagnetized by the safe. I wouldn't risk a credit card or ATM card!

for the safe, I bought along an old used up Toys R us card with a magnetic strip and worked like a charm!

also, if someone in your party loses their S&S card and it was the one used for the safe, anyone who can get into your room can also get into your safe!

another good tip: just like with any credit card; do not keep your Sail and Sign card in the same pocket or right next to your cell phone, it will screw up the card; which won't usually be a problem utnil they try to swipe the strip as you are getting on and off at the ports...
