Whew! No Barbershop Quartet cruise on Carnival Freedom April 26, 2007. Just the Cruisemates 3CCC's group.

Sorry Barbershop lovers.

Take care,
Mike

If you do not find your cruise in this list, you can still do a Google/Yahoo search by entering the name and date of your cruise, maybe that will bring up some groups for your cruise.

Good luck

Hmm, I can assume "Shepherd's Sabbatacal" is a christian group. I'll be on the same voyage as them. I can only hope they don't want to save all of our sinning souls whilst on board.

Honestly, I'd rather have a convention of circus clowns or drag queens, or even a gay and lesbian group on the ship than a bunch of bible thumpers, if it is what I think it is....I hope t hey don't have monopolies on some public rooms ont he ship like the conference that was on the Victory in January...everytime I wanted to go check out some space, the darn conference had a session in there...

We were on a cruise in June with the singles group(not in the group, they were on our cruise!)........they were not rowdy at all and actually quite a bit of fun. Hubby, daughter or I never lacked a dance partner if we wanted to dance.

We were much more put out with the catholic Japaneese group that was rude, pushy and called people names.

Good post Fred.

Mike! I think it would actually be kinda cool to be onboard with some barbershop quartets...couldn't be any worse than some sounds that come from the karaoke room!

I'd guess that there are MANY more group cruises than those listed. Since it doesn't show any of the CruiseMates Group Cruises, it's obviously missing many others as well.

Plus, of course, there's no way of telling if these groups are 20 people or 2000.

Kuki -

I suspect you and I are of the same mind regarding this thread - I am certain that the FIRST COMMUNITY BAPTIST CHURCH is a wild group (as this thread's title suggests) that must absolutely be avoided. Likewise the DEARBORN CLASS REUNION.

To lump all of these groups together is, IMO, unconscionable. Yes, there may well be groups that could cause trouble, but most groups cruising are reputable and on the cruise for one reason - enjoyment.

I would think that when these large organizations (CM, VTG, SC, etc.) book a cruiseship, they have some idea or way of knowing whether or not the ship will have another large group onboard.

Regardless of the nature of the group, it is when a group's member believe that they do not have to be mindful and considerate of other passengers that the problems arising. It is more unbearable when the group is of significant number.

I appreciate both lists of future cruises. I am quite liberal but there are certain things I want to leave this Earth without witnessing. I too have heard horror stories. There is one group whose name has not resurfaced since a cruise from heck approximately a little over a year ago. I don't know if I should name this group but they are named after a forest animal and the stories that came out were not to be imagined, less come believed.

This "forest animal" group will be on a Princess cruise in October.

Wow!!! If it is who I think it is, all I can say is wow!!!!!! How do you obtain a list of Princess cruises and their groups?

You know as passengers get wiser on ways to find out which group/which cruise, the cruiselines will have to address this issue. Otherwise, they will be faced with half empty ships or forced to slash prices to ridiculous rates just to try to fill the ship. Then these large and disturbing groups will not be so attractive.

It is not rocket science which groups (not interests, but specific groups) are the problem groups. Anything over 750-1000 members should be placed with other large groups and given a ship of their own. Any individual cruisers who previously book this ship, should be given the opportunity (warning??) to change their ship/week.

There has got to be somewhere a running list of the large groups that do not mix well with the general population. How can Carnival not know when I know about a number of large organizations that will turn a cruise into a nightmare for the average passenger. Come on. Carnival cannot claim to be ignorant to what is going on and how their passengers feel about being put on a ship with so many ___________.

Update!!!! Interesting!!!!!

Cruise Bruise reports that NCL has cancelled ALL of the "forest animals'" reservation because "some of their members' behaving has been disruptive to the other passengers" (or something like that).

Now if NCL can stand up to the ridiculous behavior of some (not all) groups, what is Carnival waiting for?? A media-grabbing, headline making disaster to befall one of their cruises.

Lack of pro-active action is a horrible thing

It was not a general "GROUPS" website that I found this info on. When "these animals" pulled their last stunt on the RCCL cruise ship ...I flagged their website.

On my computer I have MANY websites listed under "Groups to Avoid" and I check each and every website before I book a cruise. And then I check them again before the deadline to cancel.

Any time I hear of a cruise that has been disrupted...I find the out "who they were" and add their website to my "Groups to Avoid" file!!

For example: Folks who are headed out on the Liberty October 27th don't know they will have a group of hashers (swingers) whose motto (as stated on their cruise website) is to " annoy normal people who think they are there to "get away from it all".

Now Carnival needs to get a clue....if these people ADVERTISE that their goal is to ANNOY people who are on vacation....perhaps Carnival should rethink allowing them on board!!!!

Thanks so much for the heads up and info. I will follow your lead and start to comply a list of groups to avoid as well as websites to further my research on groups to avoid.

As I said, as we cruisers tweak our ability to scope out the undesirables, the cruiselines will have to take heed.

On my computer I have MANY websites listed under "Groups to Avoid" and I check each and every website before I book a cruise. And then I check them again before the deadline to cancel.
lhp, would it be possible for you to share your list of "favorite" websites with us?
The only negative about doing that is "offending" someone, because of "the groups" I have on the list.

Folks have to realize that different people do not want to cruise with groups for different reasons. And just because I don't want to cruise with them, does not mean they have done something wrong in the past.

For example: our 16 year old son is autistic. Mascots cause him to have severe panic attacks. (like I would have if I opened my front door and there was a rattlesnake hissing at me) So some "theme cruises" are a no go for us. It does not mean there is anything wrong with them.....just means we can't do it.

Actually we ran into that problem last October on the Miracle. It was not a group...but the Halloween costumes and characters that Carnival had participating one night. He had to stay in the cabin after dinner that night because of all the people dressed up for the costume party. But it was only one night.

What I will do is PM the websites of those specific groups that have caused trouble in the past.

Go to www.shoretrips.com then click on Groups and then enter the name of the ship or the cruiseline.

Yes, I found that website and am compiling a list of my own. LHP, please pm me the list of problematic groups also if you don't mind. I would hate for my relationship with Carnival to go down the drain because I stumbled on some groups that do not mingle well with non-group folks. I agree with LHP, there are many personal reasons why one group or the other would not work for an individual.

Thanks to all who have shared. You are not labeling any group as bad, you are just giving useful information to all that seek it.
