Are self service laundries on board, and if so, what is the average cost? I'm trying to reason with my husband who routinely overpacks (i.e., 5 pairs of socks for an overnight visit - but usually not enough underwear ).
Very hard to do laundry on a cruise. I have found it impossible as there is too much to do. The cost was nothing compared to wasting the precious time doing laundry.
Totally worth it in our book! We travel with two younger children (almost 9 and 5) and refuse to bring bags and bags of clothing.
No one notices if you wear the same outfit 3 times, promise!
Plus you meet really nice folks in the laundry!
Our next cruise in on RCCL and we won't have this option. Going to miss it I'm sure. Granted we can send our stuff out and get it back quickly but I have a thing about others doing my laundry!

The only thing I used was the iron. And that was just to press a couple of dress shirts then I was done.

Detergent and fabric softener sheets are also $1.00 each in the laundry room. We always bring detergent and dryer sheets from home, they are easy to pack and it saves us some money. Sometimes the dryers didn't completely dry our clothes and we had to drop in another $2 to finish the job....we didn't want semi-wet clothes hanging all over our stateroom. You can purchase a roll of quarters in the Casino if you don't bring your own. We tried to do our laundry when the ship was in Port and not many people on board.
I couldn't hget the machines to start when I tried in July, and it ws $2 for wach, $2 for dry. So I just washed our shirts in the sink, wrung them out, then hung them to dry in the open closet area. they still hadn't dried by the last day (4 day cruise) so I send them off with other things in the one bag they do for $15 on the last full day.
Next time, I'll have to find someone show me how to start the machines as it wasn't obvious and there were no instructions. As I also don't want to waste time waiting for laundry,
What I plan to do is start the washing machine 45 minutes before dinner. Put the clothes into the dryer, start the machines and head to to dinner. After dinner, go back to the laundry room to bring the stuff back to the cabin; quickly lay them out on the bed flat so they don't wrinkle, then head out for the evening's entertainment. I'll hang/fold them when I return late that night.
