Just found out that our crusie, Legend, sailing Oct 7, is going to Roatan instead of Costa Maya? Anyone know anything about it? Also, has anyone been to Belize since the storm? Is it bad or what? We are still going there.
Roatan is great. I have only been there once, for a week scuba diving trip, but it was a lot of fun. That was 6 years ago, but it seems they have really built up the north side of the island for tourist with scuba diving, snorkling, some wild animal parks etc. Have fun, our ship goes there next week!

Hi Nancy,
Check out Tabyana Beach, one of the best beaches there!!!
Tabyana Beach Day
Spend some time at a place where jungle meets powdery white sand beach and crystal clear waters as well as some of the world’s finest, most pristine coral at your feet.
On this excursion you will:
Have access to private sun loungers, fresh water showers with changing/restroom facilities, and a local gift shop, bar.
Enjoy the sounds of great Caribbean music.
Snorkel in the inviting Caribbean waters and see the stunning, unspoiled coral.
Take part in a friendly game of volleyball followed by a cool glass of iced tea or homemade lemonade.
Take a walk along the beach, or just lay in the sun.
An approximate 30-minute bus ride takes you to the beach with return transportation departing the beach every ½ hour.
Roatan is very very beautiful along the coast and it's beaches, but it is so poor inland...I found it to be a humbling experience. We did the dolphin swim there and had a great time. The water is gorgeous, I got some great pictures of the coast/coral
Iv been. We did a private taxi driver who took us shopping and to photo ops and up to West End. Loved it. Bring money for coffee, they had wonderfull coffee.
Does anyonme know how much damage they recieved from Felix???

we were there this year -- island is undeveloped - lots of poverty - but unspoiled Carribean island like you saw 30 years ago.
we rented a van with another couple (with a driver) and drove around the island. We went to an iguana farm - again primative - lots of lizards all over the place - no cages - interesting and different. the farm is on a hillside with a dock downhill from entrance...I walked down there to see the tropical fish but didn't see any, so if you have trouble walking up hills skip the trip to the dock.
we went to a beach - can't remember the name - but we went down a dirt road to a flea market and then down another dirt road to the beach. The snorkling was incredible -- beautiful and abundant tropical fish just a few feet from shore! We heard about the beach on the ship so I'm sure you can get the info. When you get there you'll wonder what you're doing because it really looks crummy but ..... get in the water!
There is a new typical shopping area near the ship -- same old.....
Nice beaches, devastating poverty as you will see. People selling all their meager possessions from their doorstep-that type of thing.

We've only been there once, booked an excursion to Tabyana Beach, it was absolutely awesome!! Beautiful clean sand, lots of lounge chairs to rent, massages on the beach, bar, live music, clean restrooms, small souvenir store, snorkeling right off shore in the magnificent green, clean water and a buffet offered at a minimal cost and even an ice cream vendor on the beach. We didn't want to leave, it was heaven and one of the best beaches I've been to in the Caribbean.

I just got off of the Legend on Sunday and Roatan was the favorite port. We booked a tour through Victor Bodden and Linole took us around the island. We hope to visit again.
Roatan was wonderful back in May when the Valor visited. It is an authentic port of call which offers a genuine experience that cannot be found at some places.
The "Discover Roatan" tour through Carnival was to my liking.
It included Dixon Cove Harbour where we rode a boat out to some neat shipwrecks. Marble Hill farm was simply lovely. The jams/jellies there are $5, but if you get some do pack it in the checked luggage on the way home. The airport workers recived a gift of hibiscus jelly when it was taken out of my carry-on. ***no jellies** Plenty of hummingbirds at Marble Hill Farm !! "Yubu: Garifuna experience" offered a glimpse of local culture.

We just came back from Glory cruise that went here. We did the Gumblina (?) Park excursion and there you get to hold and play with monkeys and parrots. There is a small beach there but not as nice as the other beach excursion that others are talking about.
