I've read so many posts where the drinks keep coming and have noticed many people ordering bottles of wine every night at dinner.
As much as I would like to enjoy a drink or two, after a few sips I feel sick, dizzy and sleepy. I've never been able to experience the "good feeling" that most people get so I usually stay away from drinking, especially if I want to enjoy my evening and/or not ruin everyone elses.
The cost of alcohol has never factored into our cruising budget but I'm curious to know what most people budget and/or pay.

honestly i guess i thought i was 23 again, cuz i snuck vodka and 2 small bottles of rum on board and grenadine....never opened the vodka or grenadine, and made 1 DRINK with the rum.
I drank a bit at carlos and charlies in cozumel, but on board i think all i bought the whole week was maybe 6 drinks...and 4 were in one day lol.
monkey drink (in a coconut..son likes it cuz its also a bank lol) 15.00. 2 pina colada's 7.00 or so each, 2 specials 8.00's (for the large), on tequila sunrise (the strongest drink all week, dont know why) 8 or so. with tips.
so under 50.00!
funny thing, when i went to check on my bill and replace my card the last night, there was a group of 4 kids, who must have shared a cabin...2 girls broke out in hysterical sobs while the 2 boys searched frantically for any credit cards that werent maxed, or daddys...cuz thier sign and sail was 1,900 bucks! i guarentee that werent buying jewels either, i had seen them wasted several times..
our total sign and sail was 600.00 but we gambled and lost with it too lol bought make up and perfume and liquer, supper club etc...
We are going in May and I am budgeting $400 just for the bar tab (2 people). I figure water, pop, wine, speciality drinks, and beer will all add up. Pop is 1.75 a can. I think water is the same. Bud light is around 3.50 a bottle. The wine I like is 21 a bottle. And specality drinks are anywhere from 5 to 7 dollars. Also, cofee and juice in the morning come with breakfast. My vacation planner sent me a list of prices. I don't have it in front of me but the prices above are close. I am not a big drinker but will have a few each day I am sure. 15% gratuity gets added to your drink purchases. So keep that in mind!! I think you can add the $10 pr person gratuity to your balance and pay it off or wait until the cruise and pay it off then. Hope that helps.

About $10 for the 2 of us. We get the sail-a-way drink in the souvenir glass then go for the freebies at the captains party and past guest party. Other than that maybe a local specialty in port but we don’t drink that much.
One beer with my grilled reuben for lunch. $4.50
One Willie Moffatt (coffee, Bailey and Khalua) in the afternoon. $5.00
One cosmopolitan (sometimes) after karaoke at the piano bar. $8.00
(give or take 50 cents)
Water all evening cause I am singing karaoke!!!!! ( I bring that with me)

My bar bill for just me (my wife does not drink) is around $250-300 for a 7 day cruise. It is a little more when we cruise with friends as I tend to share my wine at dinner. However, wine/liquor tastes a lot better when you are relaxed and enjoying a cruise.
One drink on ship equals to two on land, no matter the cost.....

2 adults on our 7 night Eastern traveling with 2 other families (so of course we purchased for others from time to time). Total bar bill was under $300. And we enjoyed ourselves.
As for the soda and water, we always carry on a 12 pack of our favorite soda and a 12 pack of bottled water. We usually have a fridge in our room so we have the steward open it, move their products and put ours in.
This always saves us $ on those types of drinks. Then we enjoy the wonderful lemonade and iced tea.
Have a great trip.

My first cruise I think my total SS Card was $700 but we put excursions on that and pics. I believe we spent about $200 on drinks.
The second one was around $500 and only one excursion and the rest were pics and drinks.
This time around my DH doesnt drink much and I will bring 4bottles of wine/champagne with us. My parents that are coming dont drink at all so I am hoping to keep it around $200. I plan on having a good time but not too good.
My issue is I love the foo foo drinks and the specialty coffees. My DH will get a few Mochas.
Hi there - On Carnival cruises the 15% is INCLUDED in the price, not added on, per drink. Also, the $10.00 per person per day is to cover the dining room staff as well as the room steward and is automatically charged to your sail and sign card (you can adjust it up or down at the end of the cruise by going to the purser's desk).
As for the juice and coffee at breakfast, there are also free drinks (iced tea, lemonade, juice, etc.) all day long in the buffet and drinks with dinner in the formal dining rooms are free (except for alcohol drinks - wine, beer and mixed drinks). So really the only drinks you pay for are sodas, specialty coffees and alcohol.
Now when it comes to how much WE spend per cruise, I usually budget around $50.00 each of us for each day at sea with about half that for port days (sometimes it doesn't work out that way, but we can only try!). We also tend to spend around $100 or so on pix and another $100 or so on bottled liquor to take home.
Then there's the $200 for massages to start the cruise (before we even leave port), the $$ for souvenirs, etc. on the ship, some for the casino (not very big spenders there) and of course stuff in the ports (shore excursions or our own planned or unplanned adventures and gifts/souvenirs). All in all, we spent around $1,000 for our last 5 day and I'm expecting around $1,500 for our upcoming 7 day. Can't WAIT!!!
We never have a bar bill only because we pre pay all our drinks with the bar coupons we purchase ahead of time. We also carry a few fine wine bottles and take them to dinner with us and they open them for free and hold the wine for each dinner time for us. Saves having any sort of bar bill.
Although my Sail and Sign card was 930.00, there were 3 of us that went on excursions in both ports, a day in the spa, souveniers, and yes drinks. I drank 3 drinks all week that I bought. Yep, you read that right -- 3 - but it actually may have been 2. My bar bill was under 20.00! We did go on 2 excursions that had open bars..........made up for it there and we did buy a coke card (yep...and all we drank was coke, sprite, etc)
I agree -- in both ports my family saw some people being 'wheelchaired' back to the ship because they couldnt stand up. In the Progresso beach tour with an open bar - one guy even fell and had to have stitches. I don't get it --------I'm not a big drinker. Like a drink every now and then, but after living with 2 alcoholic parents, I like my feet on the ground!
Well I guess I am a Lush I have had bar bills between 850.00 and 4000.00 I am just one of those people who love to drink and buy drinks. If I am doing well at the black Jack tabel there is lot of shots going around.
I also travel with a large group sometimes and love to buy the funships the first day and stack the glasses high.
