if i use a phone card on my cell phone, do i still get charged all of those minutes from my cell company??

if i bought an international phone card, how would i use it to call my husband who is not going...?

TODAY, questions about phone cards/bills should be posed to some legal think tank. Ask us somethin easier, like charting the human genome. BUT, I'll take a stab at it. You won't be able to call him from the ship, that's ship-to-shore and about $10 per minute and charged to your sail-n-sign. You should be able to find land lines in port that will accept international cards. But I'm just guessin, which is EXACTLY how the phone system's designed.

You can check with your cellular service as well. We have cingular and I always add the World Travel International Feature before we travel. It costs me $5.95 for a month and I can make calls from my cell while in port. The per minute cost is still high, but much less than calling without this service.

Since we had a death in our family while on a cruise and could not get the phone in Mexico to work, I have always done this. I also set up an internet account on board the first day while they have discounts. I log on just long enough to check my important e-mails and answer the ones I need to answer, because you are charged by the minute.

I just checked with my provider {which is Verizon} and was told I had to get international calling authorized on my cell and it was .99 per minute to call from Cozumel and it would be 1.29 for Nassau calls. If I were to use the phone on the ship it would's be 2.49 per minute. If u use the ship phone I think it is 6.99 minute. With Verizon if u meet their criteria u do not have a fee for having the international calling feature on your phone.

I used the calling center off the pier in San Juan was about $30 cents a minute. Much cheaper then my cell. Also I used an AT&T calling card in St Thomas for 40 minutes. it was a $20 card and still has time on it so again much cheaper.
