Default Getting around on the Glory ??

I have read several posters here say that The Glory is not one of the easiest ships to learn your way around. Is there a simple way to learn without staying lost for 7 days? We will be on the Empress deck, midship, starboard, while our friends will be forward, port side. We don't know dining room of course, but for us to navigate without always ending up lost how do we get to Lido, Atlantic, forward to watch sailaways, ect. I've studied the deck plans but still kind so lost. Someone said getting to the dining rooms can be a challenge also. Any suggestions? Thanks. We leave in 19 days and I am soooo looking forward to this cruise.

Floridanamaw;
It is a bit intimidating. The elevators are numbered 0 thru 9, or 10 can't remember for sure. What I did after I figured out the floor numbers is used deck 6(upper) which we were in an aft balcony cabin. When we wanted to go to a specific location forward I would look at a map by the elevator, and use the cabin hallway and walk to the nearest elev., or stairs. This would but you close to your destination. There are many dead ends on the ship. The Platinum dinning room is the hardest. Especially if you are in the upper dinning room. Just study the layout, and you will pick it up very fast. I just found it easier to use the halls where all of the cabins are. Less traffic, and no dead ends. I am sure someone on here has some good ideas too.
Hope this helps, and enjoy the Glory. I know we can't wait to sail her again.

I am going on the Glory on Saturday. However, I believe the Glory is fashioned after the other non-fantasy/non-conquest class ships.

It looks confusing until you take a moment to figure out what Carnival has done.

The two dining rooms sit one behind the other with the galley and an elevator bank (Aft Elevators) in between on the third and fourth floor (Lobby and Empress decks).

In order to get to the back dining room (Platinum) you have to either use the stairs or take the Aflt Elevators because the Golden Dining Room blocks access to the Platinum from the rest of the Lobby/Empress deck (3/4th floor).

If you are assigned to eat in the Platinum Dining Room, the trick is to walk to the Aft elevator bank before going to the 3rd or 4th floor.

I wouldn't pay much attention to anything other than Promenade and Lido deck. You can travel the entire length of the ship on either deck. So, if yah want buffet, Lido aft, if yah want pool, Lido midship + aft. All the shops, clubs, casino etc on Promenade and you can drop down one short staircase to Golden dining room midship or Platinum aft. The one club with the tusks is buried away somewhere (and worth seeing) and the sports bar is out the back of the casino (also worth sippin, I mean seein). Don't worry, be happy............you're in for a GREAT time!

I was totally confused on the Glory because of the double dining rooms. I just learned how to get to my dining room from my cabin and always went that route. I am cruising next week on Carnival Liberty, another Conquest Class ship so I will use the same technique. I absolutely know I prefer the Spirit Class ships. always so easy to get around.

After a day or two, it seems simple, I'm sure you will have no problems.

Thank you all. Hopefully it won't be to bad. I'm horrible with directions but my BF is pretty good, maybe we won't stay lost, so long as we can find someplace to eat and our cabin we will be okay. Oh, and the 24/7 ice cream, gotta have that!! Thanks again.

IBCRUZUIN' let me know how you find you way around when you get back and have a great time. I'm not far behind you.

Me too Bob. Nothing like trying to learn where you are, and how to get from here to there aboard an aircraft carrier! I was almost competent when I left the ship!

The Glory is the sister ship to the Conquest and is a Conquest-class ship. The poster who said the Promenade Deck and Lido Deck goes all the way across the ship is correct. Also, the stateroom decks (Riviera, Main, Upper). When you first board, check out your dining room and see where it is located. Then you will know which elevators to take. It really isn't that hard to get around. We had no trouble at all. You may get lost a couple of times at first, but you will get the hang of it. Be sure to pick up a deck plan at the purser's desk when you board. That is invaluable. Hope you have a great cruise! Cruisegirl
