Salon Prices on the Ship

Does anyone know if the salon prices are comparable to the shore prices. Do they cut and color hair or just style?

Thx
Jenny

Best haircut I ever got was on a ship!

We had the couples massage and I thought the price was outrageous (but still did it for the "experience"). It was $242 for 50 minutes. A one hour massage around here is $50-75. After the massage, we were given a list of all these items we so-called "needed", for about $300. No thanks. Then we were told by the girls who gave the massage that we should tip them 15-20 percent. I don't like being told what to tip.

Also, although we told them several times during the massage to use less pressure, we both felt beat up by the time it was over. I even had two "mystery bruises" (although I do bruise easily) on me the next morning.

I did, however, see other people's manicures and updos for formal night, and they looked very nice.

Wow! If you include the tip it must have been nearly 300 bucks for a 50 min couple massage...You're right, that is outragous.

Even when they run "specials" it is really pricy. I wish more people would rethink paying that much and realize there is a difference between splurging and just getting hosed. Maybe more people need to do a limited boycott of the spas until they come down to a semi-reasonable rate and make it clear on their comment card at the end of the cruise that the outragous pricing is what kept them from using the spa...Although I"m sure they will always have enough people to pay whatever they are asking...Too bad! I can't talk because I got a massage on my first cruise about 7 yrs ago...On my recent one, I looked at the prices and just said no way.

Hope the rest of your cruise was great!

I'm planning on taking my friend on the next cruise, and she used to be a beautician. I have never had her do my hair before, but I'm sure she will know what I want, compared to the beauticians on the ship.

Personally, I think they are expensive, compared to when at home. On two different cruises, they put my hair up, and I had to come back to my room and take it down, as it was not what I wanted. I will say the last cruise, I took a picture of what I wanted to look like, and they tried, so I would do that as a suggestion, if you want someone to do the style you want. If you have short hair, you really don't have to worry too much.

On one of the cruises they had a man, and said he was the BEST. Well that was "their" opinion, as I did not find it to be that way with me.

I have only been on one other cruise and when I looked at this prices I said no way I agree with the poster that said that maybe evryone should boycott but he is true in the saying that there will always be someone out there to pay those ridiculous prices.

Me personally I know vacation is supposed to be about enjoying life and having no worries that is true but at the same time you have to be sensible and realize when someone is yanking your chain. :D
