Default Harbor House Galveston

Have a hard time finding the right hotel in Galveston. Will be staying two days before we cruise. Have read a lot of bad reviews in Galveston. So now thinking about the Habor House but just checking with my cruisemates to see what you think. Thanks

I have sen several good reports here on HH.

I believe Mehawk likes it there.

Maybe he could tell you more about it.

Another HH fan here!

We stayed two nights before our Conquest cruise in March, LOVED it!

Our room overlooked the harbor and we saw the ships right outside our window, VERY cool for the kids

We walked to the pier with bags in tow, only took 10 minutes. Walked right in, checked our baggage and got in line while others were dealing with traffic. No sweat.

We left our car with them (have a foot patrol officer that makes rounds) for only $20 for the entire week! Found that hard to beat!

If we have the opportunity to cruise out of Galveston again (and likely will) we will book our room at the HH without a doubt.

I don't know who wouldn't like Galveston. Harbor House is right on the pier and you can walk to the terminal if you like and if you can carry your luggage about a block. The rooms are huge and rustic. It's like a warehouse that has been restored as a hotel. Plenty of entertainment around, plenty of restaurants also. Oh, there's a beach also.

i wanted to stay at HH the two days we were in galveston b4 oiur cruise but it was the MOST expensive hotel in town. Much more than moody, galvez, etc. (maybe luis was more..dunno)

honestly i gave up when i got a 69.00 rate at Baymont (about 2 blocks from seawall) hotel, we found it very clean, a year old and the WIERDEST but very cool view from our little balcony. It was an VERY old deserted cemetery. some crypts and stuff but most were broken up. obviously land untouched due to the cemetery, but wow i thought it was really cool lol.

We were going to stay at HH for our upcoming cruise in Jan. The price was way out of our budget. Got a good deal at Baymont like Liz. We will be there two nights before our cruise. If it was in the budget would have opted for HH. Gotta do what you can afford.

We stayed at the Treemont house. 2 blocks from the terminal. We loved it. Have a fun cruise.

My husband and I stayed at a place called Casa De Mara back in 2001. I dont know if it is still there. But it was reasonable and very nice.

I haven't stayed at the Harbor House and it sounds like it would be out of my budget too. I would rather spend my money on the cruise

We did find a great restaurant we liked though at the Harbour. We dined at Willie G's and sat next to the window overlooking the Harbour. We timed our dinner so we could watch the ships sail in the afternoon the night before we sailed. The food and service was excellent and worth a trip back to Galveston for us.

We have stayed at many of the hotels, and our favorite is the Holiday Inn Sun spree. It is on sea wall and about 9 dollars to get all four of us to the port. It is centrally located to everything, and very clean. You even get towel animals on your bed.

The place I don't recommend is the Best Western. It was good in it's time, but is worn out.

We thought about HH but it is in a more expensive area. Restaurants, etc.

Thank you all I'm looking in to all of these. Harbor House doesn't even the rates for 2008 yet. It's probably me though I like booking everthing early.

One more word of advice is to book as soon as you can. People do not realize that Galveston is a small island, and with the Conquest in town, it takes a lot of rooms to satisfy all those passengers.

thegambler (sherrie) has all but talked me into staying near them in Jan. Near Kema boardwalk or the town next to it. It will be cheaper and i think its only about 20 minutes to galvestons port.

cant wait to have dinner with you and jim again sherrie!

Liz

(gotta get darlene and mehawk and family together at the same time, would be a great time!)
