My last cruise was a helluva lot of fun. But it had its downfalls..
FOCUS: Give us your "good, bad and ugly" on your last cruise or any cruise you've been on that stands out to you.. Don't forget to tell us when and which boat! Mine is on the Triumph from this last June.
The Good: The entertainment on my cruise was awesome. Loved the piano man and the daily entertainment... (I was robbed of a name that tune victory by a cheating house wife though!!!) [EDIT]--I just re-read that.. she wasn't cheating on her husband.. she was cheating on name that tune! ha
The bad: service wasn't as good as I would expect from a major cruise line. The people in the photo booth even yelled at us because they weren't open yet and we were looking at photos on the wall GOD FORBID!!!
The ugly: The food just wasn't up to par with what I expected. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The chef on the ship was a knob. nuff said!
Adventure Of The Seas 06/06
The Good, the company i kept. Loved my CM's gang. The balcony, i'm now spoiled, and last but not least, the SUPPER CLUB WAS THE BOMB! However my fave thing was being begged by the hostess and our waiters and table mates to join them in the dining room even tho were were in jean shorts and capris...(we were feeling a bit icky) our last night. sigh i felt so wuved.
The Bad, Lido deck buffet. (yuck), we ate more often at the burger/pizza stuff, seafood and chinese place and roomservice (all good)I too got "tude" from the photo people at the kiosk. I even had a guy lie to me and say they were out of the packages for scrapbooking because he had put them under the desk, and it was the last night. Other than that i had wonderful service from everyone else.
The Ugly-----the chateaubriand !!!!!!!!!!! BLECH. i've had more tender butt steaks on a grill then this meat. The filet and prime rib were wonderful.
side note...embarkation SUCKED, BIT and all that stuff. Took over 2 hours. Horrible. Debarkation was GREAT! We stayed on the ship until 10am, had breakfast and lounged a bit. Hint for those that dont know..Get a porter. I had to wait in line for 20 minutes to get a porter, but once he was MINE we were thru customs and to our bus in 15 minutes. We got to bypass everyone. It was worth the 15.00 we tipped him! The porter also told us that customs doesnt search bags as often when porters are used lol, all i had was 2 bottles of extra booze but that was nice. Hubby mad that i made him throw his cubans in the garbage tho lol
The Ugly: Not being able to book another until this year! (And you guys are scaring me, has something changed at the Port of Galveston? We had no problems embarking, but I am hearing lately that embarkation is horrible. I want to get on the ship asap.)
The good.... A 7 day cruise on a great looking ship to great places.
The bad.... The indifference by the crew about helping people onboard. We actually saw crewmembers turn away from doors so they wouldn't have to open them for the ladies.
The ugly.... The dining room experience. The food was always incorrect, cold when it should have been hot and hot when it should have been cold. The waitstaff started with the waiter and two helpers and by the end of the cruise, it was just a helper.
I would still do Princess again though because... it's a cruise!!
Cruised more times than I can remember.
Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
Courage and perserverance have a magical talisman; before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into the air.
Pick your company wisely! Hang around people who are going to help you become all God created you to be.
Good – Embarkation in the new Miami Terminal D. It had only been open about 1 week when we boarded. Easy 20 minutes curb to ship during the 10:45 to 11:30 time frame. Really enjoyed the white sand beaches and swimming in Half Moon Cay and Grand Turk. Shopping in St. Thomas, and a city / fort tour in San Juan. Definitely the balcony. Spent more time there than anywhere else.
Bad – Didn’t have a head waiter, just two “helpers. Service was good but a little slow and not as personalized as our service in the past.
Ugly – Debarkation!!!! They were still offloading self assist when they called our numbers to go to the Rome lounge. Cabin steward suggested hanging out in our room another hour, maybe we should have listened. Had to work our way through the self assist crowd to get to the lounge and they were still running one line for self assist when they put us in line. The new terminal D has airport like luggage carousels instead of the large sea of luggage, but that just crowded everyone together instead of spreading them through the room. The lines for customs wasn’t managed as well as they should have been at first but got a little better as the supervisor began moving the staff around and explaining their assignments.
Bob, going on triumph in Feb Loved the itinerary. What did you do In St Thomas? Any experience with car renting there?" Dollar taxis"? Want to do coral world and coki beach but taxis too expensive trying to cut costs. Any info on triumph if you were going again what would you do same or different?
Yelled at ? I would have yelled right back at them and made an issue out of it !

Just got back from our 4th time on this Destiny cruise.
The Good- Entertainment & Activities (I also won a "How to make the towel animals book!)
The Better- The food was better than it has been in the last 3 years. We were really happy with everything ordered. They even had a chocolate buffet this time. Room service was amazing! Also better than the last 3 times. We always order coffee for two to help us wake up. Called in the morning and it arrived within 10-15 minutes each day!
The Best- St.Lucia was a new port for the Destiny- loved it! Most beautiful next to St.Thomas (a close 2nd). We also booked an oceanview cabin this time and it was soooooo well worth the extra money. The cabin was twice as big as the inside cabins we had always got in the past. We will NEVER book an inside again. Now we're spoiled! The service in the dining rooms were way better this time around also! Way nicer personalities, service, etc.
I too got "tude" from the photo people at the kiosk. I even had a guy lie to me and say they were out of the packages for scrapbooking because he had put them under the desk, and it was the last night.
I too had a little incident on the Legend with the photo people. I bought a dvd that the guy said, at least I think he said because his english sucked so bad, "it had the ports on it". I said that I would buy it but then I wanted to make sure I heard him right and asked "if it had all of our ports on it?" and he answered so quickly it sounded like one word, "No. Not all, only one. One dvd, one port."...and he proceeds to reach for 3 more dvds, at $24.95 a pop, to add to my purchase. So I told him that I misunderstood him for saying it had "ports" on it thinking it meant one dvd that had all 4 ports on it and asked him to take it off my bill. He looks disgusted and says, at least it sounded like, "I can't take off! Already charged!". So dummy me, thinking that was true I accepted his b.s. I soon found out when I watched someone get some pictures taken off their account without any sassing at another desk that he could have taken it off when I asked him to, he just wanted to make his sale. So without going into much more detail here, I went back over to him for my refund, he copped another attitude and got a double dose of one back from me, and I got my refund. I can't help but wonder how many others he has tried that with...
