Default Imagination?

Hi all-

I am taking my niece on a cruise for her 21st birthday, and we were looking at a 4 day on the Imagination for next May. I've been on the Fascination 3 times and LOVED her. Just came back from a cruise on the Sensation and really did not like the ship at all. Didn't like the purple everywhere. It was like someone put Barney in a blender, then threw him all over the place.

Does any one know when the Imagination is scheduled to be refurbished?

How is the Imagination? Anyone care to share their opinions/experience with that ship?

Thanks so much!

Angie

VERY GOOD, but I loved Sensation..........purple and all. Did you look at Imagination's 5 day itinerary to Grand Cayman/Ocho Rios? I think that and Inspiration outta Tampa to GC/Cozumel are the 2 best 5 days offered.

My first cruise ever was on the Imagination, we had such a great time we booked another cruise on her the following year. Don't know when she is scheduled for refurbishment.

Imagination is currently in dry dock undergoing a full overhaul, including adding the new waterworks pool area.

We sailed on her 9/29-10/03, she needed the upgrades! The staff was excellent and I'm sure you and your niece will have an excellent trip.

Have a Miami Vice with a float of Barcardi 151 for me

We've booked the Imagination for B2B in April......after the complete overhaul. The big plus for us is that we'll be hitting 4 ports we've never been to.

I have been spoiled by the Glory and the Miracle. The Miracle had some strange colors, but I loved the ship. We decided to sail the Imagination this past August and the color pattern isn't as bold as the Miracle. There are definitely some areas on the Imagination that needs refurbishing and from what I have read about Carnival's plan for this class of ship, all of those areas will be addressed. If you haven't picked an Itenerary, then I would suggest the one that includes ports in Nassau, Half Moon Cay and Grand Turk. The ships crew was exceptional and we had a great time. I have posted some photos that I hope will help you get an idea of how the Imagiantion looked prior to her refurbishment. Enjoy your cruise, the photos are titled

Imagination was my first cruise ever (to Key West and Mexico..a 4 dayer)...this was in June of 07...i guess this was right before they dry-docked her for the refurbishments..ahh well...I still enjoyed her very much even though you could tell she needed some upgrading. It was a great ship for a first timer like me...not too big..but not small by any means!! no complaints. I think you'll have a wonderful time!

She was my 1st as well!

We sailed her in 2000, and loved her, but I'm sure she was ready for some upgrades by now. We are sailing her again with a B2B in February! A couple of things I liked with the FANTASY class ship design;

1. The tables set up along the railing just outside the Lido restaurant.
I loved to get up early and get my coffee and sit there and watch the sunrise and read a book until everyone else in my family would wake up.

2. The promenade deck was not broken up as much as on other ships. Nice to walk around almost the entire ship.

3. Okay, so it's not the design... but the staff were AWESOME!

I think you will have a great time on the Imagination!

Thanks everyone for your input.

I've booked the 4 day to Key West and Cozumel. I took her older sister on a 4 day on the Fascination last December for her 21st, I can't take this niece on a 5 day-it would start a WAR! I have their younger sister turning 21 in July of 2009-then I'll be done!

Hi, Went on a 5 night cruise on th Imagination, 8th thru 13th Oct. She then went to the yard, should be sailing again the 1st week of Dec.
I went on a new iteneray for the ship. Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Nassau, had the best time of my life, this was my 11th cruise with Carnival, I also sail with Royal Caribbean 5 times, but this was the best.

Enjoy your cruise.

Hey Angie,

I am turning 21 - where are you taking me on MY cruise? Okay, if you want to get picky, 21 plus 29.

Just came back last month from the 5 day on the Imagination. We loved Grand Turk! Yes, the ship was in pretty bad need of a refurb. Aren't your nieces lucky to have you as an aunt??

Default Refurbished Ship

Hi, just wanted to add.....

I recently booked a group of 80 for the Inspiration out of Tampa. This unfortunately was the first sailing after renovation. What a disaster!

The ship was not completed. We were delayed until after 2:30 for boarding due to carpet still being laid. The remnants were all over the ship AFTER we were allowed onboard. Rubber strips on the stairwells were loose and I and several of my guests tripped on them.

The new pool area was closed due to not being completed. The other pool was closed 2 and a half days of the 4 day cruise! There were two jacuzzi's at the pool area. ONE WAS COLD WATER THROUGHOUT!

My guest's cabins were not completed. Bathroom doors were unattached... door handles came off, the new furnishings still had their tape on them from shipping! My own cabin was filthy. The sink wall was open. Grease marks all over the bathroom tile. There were no towels when I was finally allowed in the cabin at 3:00. I asked my steward 3 times for towels and asked about cleaning the cabin. At 4:30 I received 1 towel! Two of my guests had a flood in their cabin as workers forgot(?) to attach the plumbing!

I could go on and on.... but I will say this........

DO NOT GO ON A SHIP's FIRST SAILING AFTER A RENOVATION!

Imagination will have her first sailing on November 15th, 2007 after renovation.

I have a poker cruise group booked on her for November 29th, 2007! I hope we don't have the same nightmares! Luckily I am doing a site inspection on the 15th to see the condition. But..it will be too late to re-book the group of 73!

OUCH!

Last night we watched as the Charleston, SC shipyard completed welding the water slide (now on the aft deck) of Carnival Imagination. She is the third Fantasy Class ship to go to Charleston f0r dry-dock. We sailed on Carnival Imaginations "pre-maiden" voyage. She had to be used two weeks earlier than planned after Carnival Ecstasy caught fire and could not ail for several weeks.

Default Love the Imagination

Don't know how it will be after the refurbishment, but the three times I sailed the Imagination - I LOVED IT! Was my first Carnival cruise a back-to-back and I didn't want to go home. The staff was all top shelf... our favorite drink of the day guy was Carlson... even remembered us a year between cruises.
