I find it a little bit on the loud side but it doesn't affect my experience at all. It's just Carnival's thing, kinda like a lot of Vegas hotels, just over the top and I don't mind one bit.

My first cruise was on the Celebration, we were in awe of everything we saw..The Fascination, when we sailed, was a Hollywood theme, right up my alley... On my recent Conquest cruise, I must admit, I felt it was just overdecorated to the nth degree..Not an inch unembellished, and no place for your eyes to, just rest.
I have to agree, it didn't take away one iota of our enjoyment, but I must admit, I do like a calmer decor.

I too thjink it is interesting. There is something about strange/bizarre/loud decor. It draws attention to itself.
The one ship that has what I would call tacky decor is the Valor. Sorry folks, look at it from a foreigners perspecitve. it throws "Im American" in your face and it appears all over the ship. Even though the theme is Heros/Heroics, it seems that the main focus is on the US only and little else. I have seen pictures on Webshots and that decor put me off that ship. I will gladly sail on other ships, but unless the Valor has a route that I can't miss out on, I won't be sailing on that ship...
My first cruise was on the Holiday, and the bus on the Promenade was interesting and always a popular spot for people to take pictures.

To be perfectly honest, I have never paid much attention to the "decor".
But then, after 25 years....you kinda get used to it!!!

Not what I'd want in my living room, but perfect for vacation.
Exactly - not how I would decorate my living room, but I look forward to the decor on the ships. It is the total antithesis of what I spend my regular life in.

Carnival ships are known for their tacky decor whether it is vomit-like colors, anatomically correct nude statues, harsh blinking lights, etc. Don't let that distract from the enjoyment of a Carnival cruise.

I thought the conquest was beautiful. I loved all the monet and other french impressionist glass all over.
I love a little glityz, my house is sutle golds and greens and a touch of red, kinda classic, so glitzy can fill in my need for somthing "ahem" special on a vacation! Who wants mute colors on vacation anyway.
Better watch out for my ROCKIES......the hottest team in baseball....EVER!
While I'm not necessarily looking forward to facing the Rockies, I'm VERY PLEASED they won the pennant. They're similar to the Tribe in that it ain't a big name/store bought roster like the Yanks and BoSox. Oughta be a GREAT World Series!
I love the ships decor (minus my pink mosaic bathroom on the Victory). It reminds me I am on vacation, that Joe Farcus is an amazingly talented man with a good mix between class and glitz and fun, and that I am there to have a good time no mattter what I am in the mood for.
While I have to admit that the Miracle was a little over the top, I think that's what makes it so appealing. Hearing so much about the "Grape" dining room beforehand and talking about it afterwards...I bet that's what they had in mind when they designed it.
The Spirit however, IMO, was decorated very beautifully.

I don't mind the decor because the cabins aren't in your face loud decor like the public rooms. You can escape all the crazy loud colors in the peacefulness of your cabin for a quick break and then go back out and enjoy your cruise. If the cabins were decorated like some of the bars etc I would have to pick another cruise line.

I think the Spirit is gorgeous with it's elegant dark woods and coppery tones. I love that ship. I also loved the Pride and it Renaissance themes. The Glory was beautifully done for it's "Colors" theme. The Liberty is absolutely stunning. The lighting fascinated me throughout the ship. The atrium chandelier with its ever changing colors was absoultely breathtaking. I saw nothing tacky about these ships. The Ships of the 80's and early 90's were on the tacky side but that is changing as these ships go into dry dock for refitting. In my humble opinion I think Carnival is doing a wonderful job of turning around the glitzy glaring party boat image of the past. This company is emerging as a family friendly atmosphere with a lot of good fun things to do. They also serve some of the best food at sea and service has improved 100% since the early days.
