forgive my ignorance, but what is CVC??[/quote]
Carnival Vacation Club. They used to sell memberships onboard. Some people liked it, others didn't It was quite expensive IMHO.
They don't sell the memberships anymore, but anyone who is still a member can use their points until they're gone.

Yes they are an expensive up front cost, basically we are prepaying for our next set of cruises. Plan is to use the points portion on small 4 - 5 day sailings they are often and inexpensive. by doing this we are building up or inventory of cruises towards VIP status. Right now we get the best discounted rate paying cash and not using points but still get the perks.

i was told that for VIP or Conceirge service you need to have `10 carnival cruises behind you. My problem is that the ones I took in the late 90s are not in their computer. I have to find proof. they say their computer records only go to mid 1995. I have 3 or 4 prior to that. On NCL we got Conceirge service just because we had a balcony stateroom on our hawaiian cruise. The best part was being first for embarkation and debarkation and to disembark on the final day, we were wisked off the ship before anyone else... We went from Lobby to our cab in less than 5 minutes including customs! We were escorted by the Conceirge who walked faster than i could run! Next thing you knew it we were out on the street.
10 cruises on Carnival (all cruises count - even CTN)
Cat 11 or 12
CVC member (they no longer sell these packages any longer and
the outstanding memberships will expire 05-2012)
As for those who have "old" Carnival cruises that are not listed, you can have them added.
We had 8 added to our history. We faxed them embarkation pictures.
Also, remember that if you used a TA (which a lot of folks did back then) the TA may have some old records that can help you get the credit you have earned.
Happy Cruising!!
