Default Cruise Nightmare

Maybe I'm a freak, but as I get closer to my cruise date in 3 weeks, I keep having nightmares about forgetting luggage, forgetting liquor, missing the boat etc... Mind you, I do wake up somewhat happy because I was dreaming about cruising hahaha

I wish I could relate. You would think I would have so many cruise dreams after spending so much time on cruise message boards, researching excursions, looking up airfare, and finding pictures of my ship before bed but I haven't had one.

Before my cruise, I had a dream I missed the ship, my family was onboard, I was standing there freaking out and I jumped off, trying to catch up to the boat.... INSANE!! talk about waking up in a cold wet sweat!

I had a dream that we got to the cruise terminal okay but when we we were asked to show our documents, I realized that I had left everything at home (passports, ID, credit cards, etc.). I freaked out, then woke up. Took me a few moments to realize it was a dream. I was so concerned about doing it in real life that I checked to make sure we had our documents way too many times. I breathed a sigh of relief once we were onboard the ship.

I had similar nightmares, except mine started at the airport!!!!! I dreamt that I was at the airport and they said my flight left the previous day, not that day and there was no available seats on the plane to Toronto or Miami!

I had a 1am flight, so this is why I had this nightmare.....I didn't miss the flight, nor did I get any sleep on the red eye thanks to a few men snoring as loudly as they could which kept more than a few of us trying to catch a few hours sleep.

Try forgetting the toddlers diapers at home. The ship had a few her size to spare but we had to dedicate some time in Cozumel looking for pampers. Talk about stress...

I too am crazy!! I had a dream last weekend that I fell overboard I've also had a dream that we forgot to eat? Figure those two out!

The second cruise we went on we were getting ready to go to dinner and we noticed that my husband had no shirts I then remembered that they were still in our closet at home, where I left them so they would not get wrinkled and I was TO grab them before we left in the morning! Needless to say, my DH got a few new shirts down at the gift shop!!

Default Nightmare cruise

My cabinmate was my nightmare. I am very disappointed that it was so bad. Oh well, live and learn.

I don't dream about the cruise but during my waking hours I worry about leaving things behind. I have found that making a "master" packing list and making copies of it to use for future cruises helps. I mark each thing off only after it goes in a suitcase/carry on. After about 5 cruises I got the list "polished". The last thing we do before leaving the driveway is to check for passports, drivers license for each person, our cruise documents, travel insurance confirmation, cash and credit cards. This ritual greatly reduces my worry and is part of getting revved up for our cruise...

I have cruise nightmares right from the time I book till I get on the ship. One of the ones that freaked me out was I boarded the wrong boat. Instead of going to Mexico I was headed to Alaska, and to make things worse they did not have a room for me and I had to end up sleeping on the Lido deck.

Default What a great way to start my day...

I woke up and checked this forum and laughed until I cried! Salty Dog... I could clearly see you and your 4 ex-wives onboard!

But to reply, YES!

I get these nightmares before each of my Poker Cruises!

I dream (?) that I have left all the poker tables in storage! I imagine none of my staff (dealers etc) getting onboard! I wake up sweating and panicky!

But what makes it worse, while awake, once we get to the port, checking in... for some reason I always seem to forget where I placed my passport! Being very anal, I keep taking the passport out all morning and returning it to a different area in my carry on! Just checking I say to myself. But then, when I need it, I get all freaked out and in panic mode, take everything out of my carry on to find my 'lost' passport, only to find it is either in my back pocket or with my tickets! GRRRRRR

Real life nightmare - my son (stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC) headed to GA for his fiance's college graduation. They were taking a cruise to celebrate. I got a call from him the night before graduation saying he had left the tix in NC. I had to drive 2.5 hrs. from Myrtle Beach, get the tickets and overnight them to him. Yes, he knows he owes me big time! (But that's not the first and won't be the last )

My dream came true sort of. I thought my cabinmate son was going to drive me crazy but it was her. She was sick the entire time and didnt want to do anything. She had strep throat and gave it to me. So I was very sick when we got back. Therefore I had to take another week off from work when I returned. Then she still owe my money from the trip today. Chop it up as a learning experience. I wanted her and her son to experience cruising so I helped her pay for it and she ended up in the room with us. NEVa Again.

my cruise nightmares usually start about 2 weeks prior to sailing.
I panic about everything...forgetting my passport...losing my luggage... missing my flight etc.

so far I have been lucky and none of those things have happened.
knock knock knock on wood.

Hmmmm...

Perhaps you all would like to lie down...
And tell me about your MOTHER!

Seriously, my dreams are usually pretty good, if not just wierd!
1. Like we take a sudden detour to some landlocked city, and the ship gets stuck!

2. Or my boss is the captain of the ship.

3. Or my cabin revolves. I guess it's on top of the ship, and it spins slowly so the view always changes. (I've seen restaurants like this!)

Maybe I shouldn't eat ice cream before bed!?

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of cruising: "We hold these cruise truths to be self-evident: that all cruisers are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the azure seas of the world the sons and daughters of Carnival cruisers, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity cruisers will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the barge and ferry cruisers, sweltering with the heat of bad air conditioning, sweltering with the indigestion of a terrible buffet, will have these ships transformed into an oasis of phenomenal cruising and safe ships.

I have a dream that my children will one day live in a nation where they will be able to cruise on every line and every ship and then start over. They will not be judged by what they wear but by who they are and the content of their character.

There's my dream with my sincere apologies to Dr. Martin Luther King.

Take care,
Mike

No dream, the wife of friends of ours who cruised with us did all the packing. When they started to unpack she had not packed anything for her DH except for his Tux. He wore lots of T-shirts and shorts on that cruise.

P S They are still married after 40 years.
