Default passport needed for Legend headed to Honduras?

Everyone gives me a different answer! Could someone please confirm that a passport is NOT needed if your cruise is headed to Honduras? I'm scheduled for a seven day to Cozumel, Grande Caymen, Belize and Roatan. Honduras webpage says passports a must, Carnival says no. If someone just cruised there, please let me know.

I would advise you to get one, whether it is needed this trip or not.

I believe it is best to have even if it is not required for cruises, but just imagine if something were to happen at one of the ports and you had to fly home. You cannot fly into the states without a passport.

Also, I would suggest having with you the address and phone number of the US consulate in Honduras just in case.

That region can be unpredictable.

You don't need a passport to cruise until sometime in the summer of 2008. But, if you fly into or out of Honduras or Belize a passport is required.

If you're on the cruise, and leaving the same day, you do not need a passport or visa at this time.

However, if something were to happen, such as a medical emergency, and couldn't leave with the ship, you would not be allowed to fly back into the United States.
That would be U.S. law preventing your return, not the laws of any of the islands.

This is what we were told at embarkation. We could go but if we needed back we could not without one.

I advise all cruisers to get a passport, you wiil need it more and more in the near future. Once you get it it's good for ten years, and you will be glad you got it.

I got my passport in 2 weeks. It was easy to do ..no hassles and now I feel better about going out of the country. It's worth the peace of mind to have it. Happy sailing!
