From airport to hotel:

Most of the airport hotels have a shuttle to and from the airport, while the downtown and beach hotels do not. A taxi costs about $25 to the downtown or port area and about $40-$45 to the beaches.

From hotel to port:
Some hotels offer a shuttle to the port but charge a fee, or you have to book a cruise package room rate. Airport area hotels that I know have a shuttle to the port of Miami or at one time did have a shuttle to the Port of Miami include the Embassy Suites and the Holiday Inn @ Miami Airport.

All of the major downtown hotels (Radisson, Marriott, Doubletree, Hyatt, Intercontinental) either have a fee shuttle service or allow you to get a taxi for approximately $10 to the port. Some of these hotels offer cruise package rates that will include breakfast and a shuttle to the port.

I have found that it is generally cheaper to book a 3* or 4* hotel through Priceline, and rent a car from Thrifty or Alamo at the airport, as these two rental car companies shuttle me to the port for free when I drop off the car at their airport locations.

Closest and with views of the port are:

Holiday Inn Port of Miami
Intercontinental
Mariott Biscayne Bay

The Doubletree Grand Hotel is a little further from these 3 downtown hotels. It still has a view of the port though.

I always try to stay at the Holiday Inn just because of it's location. No shuttle, but the most I've paid for a taxi to the port was $8.00.

I just checked the LaQuinta site and it says there is no shuttle service here. Do you need to call and specifically ask for it?? Thanks

stay away from the days inn - they have FREE shuttles to/from the airport and pier, which is why we picked them. but they had roaches and wouldn't refund our money when we checked out after only 2 hours.

All areas of Florida have roaches, its why its called the tropics! Not much you can do about the little critters. Be thankful you never stepped on a red ant nest...

Roaches to Florida is like ants or fleas to any other parts of the country.

AAA just booked us at the Courtyard at the airport with free shuttle to and from the port. This includes breakfast. After seeing that it would cost 20.00 a day to park at the port (140.00 for the 7 day cruise) it was worth it to us to pay 219.00 for the hotel and the shuttle.
