Default Costa Maya

Latest reports say Costa Maya will remain closed till Sept. 08. Not unhappy as my next cruise will call at Roatan. My favorite port.

Salty dog, I too like Roatan and liked Costa Maya.
I tend to like the less developed ports more so than the bustling shopping centers like St. Thomas, etc.
I doubt that when Costa Maya re-opens it will be anything like it was prior to the storm. I believe it will be much more developed and more touristy but I guess that's " progress".
If I understand it correctly Carnival is adding another pier at Roatan which of course means more people and more developement. We better enjoy that little port while we can as it won't be too long before it's progressed into a major port.

Ya can say that again about Roatan, I have friends who live there, they own a lodge and a restaurant in Westbay. About 5 years ago they talked us into purchasing some land/dirt there. We put $70K into this large tract, we were in Roatan last month, our land/dirt is still there and worth over $350K now. Westbay is pretty much already taken over by American ex-pats.
