Default Handling Emergencies from Home

Hubby and I are so happy to be getting away without 3 children. They will be watched by their Grandparants. If by the slight chance we are needed to be contacted in case of an emergency, how should my Mom get in touch with me? Would she be able to contact me via cell phone? I don't care how much it costs because this would only be in the most extreme case I would be needed. I only care about what is most reliable.

The ship has a phone number that she can call to reach you or to leave a message.

Can I receive phone calls onboard?

Friends and family may call guests onboard via Maritime Telecommunications Network (MTN) Shore-to-Ship telephone service. The rate is $9.50 per minute from the United States; additional long distance charges may apply from outside the United States.

The caller needs to have available the ship name and the guest's name. The charges will be applied to the caller's credit card: MasterCard - Visa - American Express - The Discover Card - Diner's Club. 1-877 CCLSHIP (1-877-225-7447) from the U.S. 1-732-335-3284 from Canada and outside the U.S.

Can I use my cell phone on the ship?

Yes, Carnival Cruise Lines has completed the fleetwide implementation of cell phone service aboard all 22 of it's "Fun Ships".

SS Norway (12 times) '85 - '97; Radiance OS 06/01; Island Princess 11/04, Grand Princess 11/04/05, Golden Princess 7/21/06, Golden Princess 2/24/07, Explorer of the Seas 12/23/07, Island Princess 11/15/08

Cell phone would be easiest and we have the international calling plan on ours, so the minutes were cheaper. Just remember to charge the phone and carry it with you. Seems like we leave everything behind when we get onboard! However, my youngest is 19! We just check in once a day.

Have fun!

I was told by lawyer I needed to have a paper signed by myself and noterized when I had someone watching my children while I was gone so that person could get my children the medical care they needed . so please Check and see and be aware that may need to be done . Because they are not the legal guardians .
