I have done a search for this but must be doing it wrong. Anyhow.......anyone bring them to use with younger kids? I am strange about leaving my child with people I do not know BUT do want him to have fun and be in the kids events.
Anyone use them on Carnival ships? Do they work well? Are they frowned upon? Recommendations as far as styles/brands?

We always take our talk abouts so we can keep track of each other.
they seem to work fine.
No one ever said anything to us about having them.
We use them when we are out shopping on the Islands too.
that way if someone fines something good is we dont miss
out.. lol
There are two types of the radios. The more common, and less expensive on only has a few frequencies so you may hear other conversations and get a lot of cross-talk. Spring for the better unit that allows you to use other frequencies-like 7.2 instead of 7.
Check out Radio Shack, REI or any good sporting goods store.
We bought four radios for our cruise. A Carnival employee actually recommended it to us. The one's we bought have charging stations, and work very well. I am looking forward to not having to comb the ship for my famiyl when it is time for dinner.
The major brand is Motorola (the yellow ones). Another brand I own and trust is Cobra (the CB Radio makers). Ours use 3 AA batteries each, and work well enough on the rechargeable ones. Surprisingly, they work well inside the ships, which I would not have thought given that the walls and floors are metal.
