Default Cozumel Highlights & Shopping Tour

has anyone taken this tour and do you recommend it? I need something that is mostly a bus as I am unable to do a lot of walking...

Have been to Cozumel twice, both times took cab to town & shopping. Plenty of shops close together, with taking a cab you can walk as much or as little as you want.

If there will be others in your party you might consider renting a car. There was 8 in our party... 4 walked & shopped & the other 4 rented a jeep. They drove around island & found some unique shopping stops. They said it was easy driving. I believe it was 60.00 for day. Split by 2 its definately cheaper than excursion. I wouldn't want to try it solo though.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind - I'm hoping to hear from anyone who has done this particulare excursion though as I'm more interested in touring historically than any shopping and want to know how high they rate the the historical sights and scenery. I'll be travelling solo.

I have done it Michelle. It requiresvery little walking. It is a good way to see the island, from a bus.

Hi Michelle,

I think that this is one of the tours we did! We had a good tour guide and found it interesting. Besides the general tour we visited a very small ruin and an old church, and did some shopping (don't believe the "black pearl" spiel!).

I've been all over Cozumel and can't recall anything historic about the island. The resort areas of Mexico don't have much in the way of history, seems to be all beach.

There is a little community, they say is very old. It has a church, and ruins, but it also has cheap junk that they hope we will buy.

Yes, that's the "black pearl" stuff! There's also a young boy with a donkey who will charm you . I had no intention of getting on a donkey , so we gave him $2.00 and he and his donkey moved along .

perhaps I'll rethink this, you can't get great photos from a bus, unless they have a LOT of stops.... perhaps I'll be happier with the deluxe beach resort excursion, which is currently my first choice on Cozumel. I envision myself enjoying an umbrella drink on a lounge chair with my feet dangling in the ocean... and a little bit of walking up and down the beach in the surf, collecting sea shells and taking lots of photos and videos.

I am trying to remember how many stops we made. Once to the village, once at the beach where you can't swim, because of the tide, but where you can buy lots of cheap stuff, and then we stopped down town in order to eat and shop.

I guess that doesn't sound too exciting... If I was a travel shopper, which I'm not, I could just walk around a little near the pier to shops on my own..... and a beach you can't really enjoy isn't worth it. The beach resort is sounding better and better. Thanks for the details, Luanne!

Your of course welcome Michelle. Paradise beach is a good place to just hang out. It is a quick trip by Taxi.

Oh, I agree! If it's beach time you want don't do the Highlights and Shopping tour. Book one of the beach tours or just get a taxi and go on your own .

I'm thinking about that 5-hour deluxe beach resort with the buffet lunch that's included.

We love to just take a taxi and go to Paradise Beach where we can grab a lounge chair with umbrella and the waiters bring us our drinks and food.
