aft balcony on spirit

About to book cruise to Alaska -- aft balcony on Spirit (upper deck..5297). Last time I had an aft balcony going up Glacier Bay. Would like your feelings on aft balconies for alaska cruises (or any). Thanks. We didn't have a problem with soot, noise or anything. Thanks

We had an aft balcony cabin on the Destiny and loved it. It was exactly in the middle. We left our balcony door open at night and it sounded like a waterfall out there!

Our only aft was on the Spirit. We were on the deck 4 next to a suite. The only problem we had since we were so close to the water was the wake noise. We couldn't sit on the balcony while cruise and read a book or have a conversation. If we ever try an aft again, it will be on a higer deck.
