What ship, there are different kinds of 1-A's. Some have porthole windows, some have 2 large windows, some have bunk beds, some have beds you can push together, etc.

The 1A cabins in the bow of the ship have porthole windows. Twin bed and a couch.

2462 and 2465 have two big picture windows, twin beds that can be pushed together.

Hope this helps.

Most Cat 1A's are Cat 1A's because of their shape. Generally they are as large as Cat 4's and often bigger but shaped differently because of where they are located. As a result of the shape, there is no way to put two beds on the floor along with the rest of the standard furniture found in a Cat. 4 comfortably. To be honest, of the Cat 1A's that I have been in, I don't think I have ever seen one with two beds on the floor. However, I think there are a few that do have two beds I just don't know which ones.

I know where the picture windows, porthole windows, big square cabins and one twin on the floor with a sofa -styled 1A's are on each ship. Double beds?? I am not sure which ones (if any) have two bed.

I assume you are talking about the Liberty since that is your next Carnival cruise.

I have never been in either cabins but 8357 looks like one of the big squares. I would book that one. 2201 is at the very very front of the ship. It only has one twin bed and a sofa. I stayed in 2205 on the Destiny and didn't care for that room. It was identical to 2201 except 2205 had two porthole windows (almost useless). My displeasure came from the fact that the one twin bed sat about 2 feet from the wall and the bed was too narrow to roll around or move much without the fear of falling out. For me, I like the bed up against the wall so that I can move and have a barrier. In 2201 and 2205 there is space on both sides of the bed. I didnt' like that and I will not book that cabin again. I rarely used the window and could have easily have lived without it.

Another thing about 2201 is that you will hear the anchor and the engine during every port call. This means that you will hear the mechanism of the anchor at around 5 or 6 a.m. each morning that you are in port. You will also feel the vibration of the engine and the dips and jumps of the ship in the water more in this cabin than most of the others. In other words, it will be a bit bumpy. This motion will either rock you to sleep or bother you.

Of the two cabins, I would go for 8357. I bet it is a big old cabin with plenty of floor space to move around.

Good luck and happy cruzin'

Average size= 160 sq ft. This is a Cat 1-A as shown for the Liberty on the Main deck and Veranda deck.

This is the only pix I could find on my cruise ship stateroom site.

Well, the pix was there last night, now its gone. Oh well. The website is:
cruisestateroom.com. There is a site for guest and a site for members. You can buy a lifetime membership for 12.00 which gives you access to all areas of the site. It's a good site if you plan on cruising a lot and want to compare ships. As Shirley said, one cat 1-A is all the way forward, under the theater area, and the other cabin on the Veranda deck is above the Lido pool area. The one on the Veranda appears to be an odd shaped cabin. You also might search webshots for cabin photos. They have tons of photos of cruises and cruise ships. Enjoy your cruise.
