This is the same bunch. I wonder if the wind gave them a rough ride home?

I will be interested in seeing reviews.

Well, let me start from the begining
We were delayed getting on the ship until 5pm due to the fog......compensated $15 per person!. Once everyone was on say around 8pm it was anounced that the port of Galveston was again closed due to more fog and if we were not able to leave before 12am we would not make it to Jamaica.........we finally departed around 1pm on Monday afternoon.......jump forward to Tuesday.....it is anounced that due to a Tropical Storm we would not be stopping at Grand Cayman.......but the captain would substitute this missed stop with Progresso!!!!!!!!
We stopped at Cozumel on Thursday......Progresso on Friday (I did not get off the ship) this is the port where my husband was robbed (long story),spent another long day at sea on saturday, and then again was delayed getting off the ship once we arrived in Galveston.
I do understand that weather happens, but this whole vacation was ruined........any questions pls feel free to ask

I would think of the technology today with modern radar and gps, etc..They shouldnt have any problem with fog..Im familar with marine electronics, however i have a small boat, and fog is not one of the things that would stop me. i was on the conquest a couple yrs ago.

I remember about 15 years ago when my son was still in the US Navy they had a "dependant day cruise" where all family members were invited for a day long cruise out of Charleston, SC on the USS John Rogers, which was his assigned ship. This used to be a yearly treat, before 9/11, so I doubt it's allowed anymore. Anyway, the hour we were to shove off, a thick, heavy fog rolled in so bad you couldn't see across the deck. Many of us had traveled many miles, we drove 6 hours ourselves, and the sailors had anticipated this cruise for many weeks to "show off" their pride and joy that was their home. They even planned to feed all of us two meals during our cruise. After a short delay, the Captain had us underway, fog or no fog.

True Bob. It wasn't Carnival's fault at all that this trip was a nightmare for some of the people, including the OP. Let's see... humongous cruise ship cutting through the water, painted white and some yahoo is cutting across the bay at 50 knots in his fishing boat and it is so foggy he can't see and doesn't care. Disaster. The depression in the islands wasn't Carnival's dealings either.

Why shoot them down for that?

I understand that Carnival can not be held responsible for the weather, but this cruise was my husbands and I 1st cruise, and it left a bad taste in our mouth.
Carnival had an open bar for 90 minutes on the thursday evening from 5-630p....and when I mean an open bar I mean 1 bar in the casino area for the entire ship.......nearly 3000 guests......which all seemed intent on getting as much liquor in their systems as possible........it was a zoo......so this is what Carnival feels is their effort in trying to make up for such a disappointing cruise.......the last couple of nights there was a petition circulating, and I do know there was many, many signatures on it. After this incident it has left us not wanting to cruise again.
On the brighter side we had cabin 7451, and our room steward "Super" WAS EXCELLENT, we only ate in the Renoir once.....table 133.......the ship is amazing......Mark Price the CD is fantastic......but we will not be cruising again.

I think you should reconsider never cruising again, and please don't base your opinion, on this one cruise.

If you have been a reader of this site for a while, you know that, MOST cruises go off smoothly and you can see how much pleasure we derive from it.

Granted, this cruise had issues, and weather related ones, are out of our hands. Maybe in your eyes, things could have been better handled, I can understand that.....BUT honestly, I think you should give cruising another chance, to see what, could have been for you, and then make a decision. I hope you come back to post it was all that and more for you.

honeybear I can understand your dissasitisfaction and not wanting to cruise again EVER - in fact, my very first cruise was horrible; weather was the instigator of the terrible events; however, the cruise line - which I have dubbed the Big Red Joke (a/k/a the Big Red Boat); did very little to accommodate for several big issues; such as no ship at port when we arrived to port to get on the ship - the waiting room at that time had about 5 seats; it wasn't meant for a 9 hour wait and a boat full of people; it was horrible; there was no food until late in the evening and they served warm sandwhiches; once on board; everything was still disorganized; we missed a port of call; we had horrible service as all the employees were not feeling well as the last cruise was even worse; the character dining did not happen at all; this is why we booked this cruise in the first place; for our young kids. I could go on - but the point is I let this stop me from cruising for about 4 years --- then I tried it again and I have been hooked ever since.

honey bear i was on the ship i was very disappointed but we had a blast we partied at mardigras. we dressesed up for formal night my kids loved the camp. we went on 2 excursion . we did the snorkel and ruins and the lighthouse the snorkelling was the best and in progresso we did the ATV adventure. it was awesome i went off roam ! dust in my eye but i didn't turn over just messed up some tequilla plants. i played every game i could won 4 metal's and a trophy. we love the onboard activies we had a blast. mark price and staff are so awesome. the plays the shows the comic. plus i gor some bucks back which cut back on what i spent. don't give up. we waited in those long lines witha 2 and 6 year old ( no picnic ) but overall it was great. me and my hubby enjoyed the happy hour in the disco. the mardi gras thing was awesome .
