Default Beware Internet Cafe

I must say, on the liberty, it was everything and more then we expected but If there where something that I think was upsetting to me was the internet Cafe. Don't get me wrong, we love Carnival, and have already booked for next year, but I think something has to be said about the internet cafe.
It all start out, getting near our last night, and wanting to print out our boarding passes for our flight home I thought I would go to the internet cafe to do so. I looked at the prices, I think it was 100 dollars for 120 minute or 55 dollars for 60 minutes or 75 cents a minute. Now let see I can go with my luggage to the desk, with out a boarding pass and they will take care of me, or if I print out my boarding pass I can do curb side checking . Let figure this out I want to go to one site delta, Print it out and it does cost 3.95 for a one time fee of course , okay maybe 10 minutes or around 12 dollars to do this I thought. It took 35 minutes to log in and print out the passes at a cost of $34.70 I didn't mind paying the higher cost on the drinks or the high cost in the ship store but to go to one site and print out your boarding pass at a cost of 34.70 I think is excesssively high Again if you are aware of what it might cost you then, you have a choice , beware of long times to connect and then long times to print out your pass. Every one in the room was experiencing the same long delays . So will this prevent me from using Carnival of course not. I guess I will have to decide what I want to spend for curb side checking next time

I had a few problems with the internet cafe on the Liberty but it was a long time ago and basically the internet manager was never there to assist with issues such as yours. However on the Triumph I had a similar issue and I engaged the fellow working there to help me and he said it was really running slowly so he asked for my confirmation number and airline info and said he'd get my boarding passes for me and have them delivered to my room, which he did. He also credited back the money I spent trying to print them.

If this happens to anyone else you may want to ask for assistance and a credit for the time spent. If you can't find the internet manager look for their hours posted on the desk, if they don't show up, then ask the purser's desk for assistance.

The third place I look for on the ship is the Internet Café. That way, I know where to avoid! I am an IT Professional, and computers is one of the things that we were getting away from!

DITTO! I too am a systems engineer, and system administrator, and the last thing I want to look at while on a cruise is a computer. I steer clear of the internet cafe if at all possible, and when I see someone with a laptop, I head in the opposite direction.

Why do you need boarding passes to do curbside check in?? Flew home from Tampa after Legend cruise and handed curbside checker e-tickets. He check all bags and printed boarding passes. This was on Delta. I'm confused.

When I'm on vacation, especially a cruise I don't want to see, touch or smell a computer or cell phone. If you are going to play with them on a ship, you will pay for the fun.
If there is something drastic happening, I will eventually learn of it and if it's really drastic there isn't a darn thing I can do about it anyway.
Maybe If I'm sitting on my balcony and see several mushroom clouds off on the far horizon, I might, just maybe get concerned.

If I had my way, I would escape phones and computers as well and so would d/h. But it is not an option for us. I own a business and unfortunately it does require my attention even while at sea and I thank my lucky stars for the technology that allows us the luxury of several working vacations each year.

Good for those of you who can escape, and good for us to be able to make money to pay for our next cruise, while at sea on our current cruise. It's good any way you slice it!

Me too! I spend too much time with computers at work. When I go on vacatino, I avoid them like the plague.

Although I will admit that I used the internet cafe once. When a hurricane hit Fort Lauderdale, I emailed my TA to check on Amtrak because I heard on the news that there were problems. She emailed me back that I would have to rent a car to meet Amtrak in Orlando or Jacksonville because the tracks were damaged and arranged for the car for us. We decided to just drive the car home and cash in our train tickets. So it came in handy that one time...

Default Captian E Tickets

Captian
We took Amtrak down a few days before then flew home
Didn't have E Tickets
I think you can only get them twenty four hours before your flight
We were at Sea

I would have just gotten them at the airport. Ships are very slow for internet, people are crazy to even want to use them.

Satellites people....
