Why did you book a Carnival Cruise?

Just curious, assuming that you have booked already, why did you choose Carnival over the other cruise lines?
We did a lot of research, on all cruise lines, but I think a)price and b) itinerary were the topmost considerations in our choice of Carnival. That, and the fact that we've done 5 Carnival cruises and loved every one.
Counting down the days....

Price and ports was the deciding factor for both of our past cruises. We just could not beat the prices for Carnival. We have enjoyed both of our Carnival cruises. I have priced cruises with RC and NCL and just cannot come close to Carnivals prices for the same amount of cruise time and ports.

Price and ports for us. But also, we love the service, the fun, and all the good food!

I haven't booked yet but, when I do, I'll book Carnival because they have yet to dissatisfy me and I want my platinum status.

I wanted to celebrate new years eve on a ship, Celebrity would have been my first choice, but the price on Carnival was too good to pass up.

Because after 18 Carnival Cruises I am still "Completely Satisfied". There will always be things that go wrong but Carnival has always fixed them in a timely manner. The price and port stops are what I am looking for. I have considered booking with another cruise line but then I think "Why would I do that???".

Carnival has always met my expectations. The price was always right. I have always enjoyed every carnival cruise I have been on. I say "If it ain't broke don't fix it"

We went with Carnival because of price and the embarkation port. We wanted a 5 night cruise originating in Tampa because we have family there (transplanted Iowegians). That narrowed down our choices considerably, but actually helped us decide (so many choices!). It's our first cruise, so where we were going wasn't that important, just take us somewhere warm with a beach. :D

For me, it's price, and satisfaction with the product! I love the shows, and the fact that Carnival has karaoke almost every night. Most of the other lines only have it once or twice during a seven day cruise.
The lovely Mrs. Jones (Vita) wants me to book a Princess cruise next year, (we're platinum there as well) so after looking into it, I find it'll cost me almost twice as much for a seven day on Princess as it does on Carnival! I like Princess a lot too, but don't know if it's worth double the price or not!

PRICE and PLATINUM status. We tried other lines and just like Carny better. So why pay more for the same thing and we did.

Well the wife and I are first time cruisers, scheduled to go out on the Conquest in May of 08. I chose Carnival because I wanted something out of Galveston, and my only decent choices were Voyager of the Seas with RC or the Conquest. We wanted to go in May, and the Voyager will be in Europe at that time, its last Western Caribbean trip is early April. So not only was the Conquest the one doing the trip when we wanted to go, it is also significantly cheaper.

So now you have the far cheaper rates, at the better time, and then add in the positive reviews I've had from so many Carnival customers and why would I not choose Carnival?!

We are booked in 2009 !!
DH wanted a golf cruise, and Carnival had the itinerary. DH has used Carnival's golf program before, and thinks it is excellent.
The deciding factor was that the new Splendor will come to LA, and the prices were rock bottom.

I chose Carnival because or price, ports, and activities. I don't think I will ever cruise with RCL because of several reason. I am not into sports or sporting activities (no skating, rock climbing, boxing, or surfing for me), I have seen the laytour of the ships and they seem to use the same names for public rooms (like Windjammer Cafe, or Casino Royale) on all the ships. If I was to get a similar cabin on RCL I'd pay a heck of a lot more. I don't think a ship that the minimum passenger is 4000 would be my cup of tea, 3000 double, over that and embarkations/debarkation would be chaotic! I like to cruise solo, so Carnival has fair prices. Lastly, I like to shop, but the Royal Promenade is ho hum....

Price and........when something is right.......'WHY MESS WITH SUCCESS'????

Ron December 23rd, 2007 09:43 PM

We have sailed Carnival 16-18 times and have a Carnival cruise coming up in a few days.
We like the platinum perks, especially the priority embarkation and disembarkation. Getting off early is a big help when you drive to the port. You can be in the car and away while most are still milling around.
We have sailed the other major lines and like them too but really dollar for dollar and pound for pound, Carnival can't be beat. :D :D

Happy sails to you.

Price, and having work there we may know some of the staff. Also know what to expect and have loved our past cruises

twirlmom December 24th, 2007 05:58 AM

On Oct. 14 my 43 birthday I woke up sat at my computer and decided my hubby and I were going to go on a cruise!! We have been on 4 RC cruises in the past. As I did my research I could not believe what I could get for the price with Carnival. I called my continental travel agent, she found the web page, matched the price, putting us on Spa deck, and I got got bookoo fly miles. We leave on Conquest Jan. 27 and we cannot wait. Maggie In Texas.

Nancy1942 December 24th, 2007 09:37 AM

I have been on cruises in the past, the last one on RCL. My daughter has never been on one so I decided to take her for her birthday. RCL was $1000 a person more...heck ! That could be another cruise on Carnival !!!!!!!

We have 5 booked for 2008.

There is a saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Well, basically Carnival hasn't broken it yet. As long as they deliver what I want...why pay more?

Outstanding!!!

Original reason was the (now defunct) Smokefree Paradise.

Now, it is the value and the people. We recently went on our seventh cruise and had the same Maitre d' we had on our first Paradise cruise. We are forever meeting crew that we have sailed with before.

I know...I miss her as well. We only got to sail on her once because (at that time) we never flew to cruises...(except San Juan)...only drove and Miami was just to far to drive.

Oh how I wish Carnival had the vision that Oceania did. The Paradise would be sailing today if they had just put 2 small smoking areas like Oceania did....instead of completely smoke free.

Rperini3 December 25th, 2007 12:21 PM

Found that Carnival way best for us. We love the ships and and the ports. We have tried two other cruise lines the think Carinval is the best . Thanks Randy and Tami. :D :D

gfleo December 25th, 2007 06:37 PM

I book Carnival for the price, because since I live in the caribbean I've been to most islands, and I think if you get a good deal it's worth it. But if it's a bit more expensive I prefer to go on another cruise line

papa2cool December 25th, 2007 08:25 PM

Price! We looked at other cruise lines, but they were a lot higher than Carnival. And, as first time cruisers, we didn't want to spend a lot for something that we might not like. However, after reading som many comments on this board for the past few months, I think we are really really going to have a great time.

We chose Carnival because the ports were close to home. The prices are afforable also. They offer also you the option to buy drink coupons, photo & soda coupons and gift certificates which help with my cruise budget since they allow you to purchase & pay for them ahead of time.

AlaskanGrown December 25th, 2007 11:57 PM

Our first cruse we chose Carnival due to price alone... we were on a limited budget between the cruise and airfare we were able to make it happen. We were so happy with carnival we have not looked else where for another cruise line. I have family members who are happy with other cruise lines but pay much more for the same ports as I do with Carnival.

SharHite December 26th, 2007 10:57 AM

We book Carnival because it makes a convenient getaway with ports in driving distance. We love the 'fun' atmosphere of the ships and especially like the shorter cruises. However, when we want a more exotic itinerary or a longer cruise, we tend to book Celebrity, Princess, or Holland America.

We also like Carnival because after our January sailing, we'll be platinum.
