Questions about cave tubing in Belize

Really up in the air about what to do in Belize. We're considering the cave tubing thing, but have some questions....

How cold is the water? I'm pretty cold-blooded and we're going in January. Don't really want to freeze my buttocks off!

Also, just a little claustrophobic. How long are the caves? Are they pretty tight?

Hate to be a weenie, but I don't want to waste any time not having a blast!

If you ever swim in lakes, you will know how the river feels. Cold at first but after you get wet, it's fine. It will be 80+ degrees when you are there, so don't worry. Today, it's 84 in Belize.

The caves aren't real long, they are quite high and probably 30' wide. There is a while where you cannot see light at either end of the cave. But, you will have your headlamp as will everyone else so it's not too dark.

We went on this tour and had an awesome time! It was fantastic! However, If your not a good swimmer, I suggest you do a search on it and read some of the post from way back when. I would definitely go on it again however!

Sounds pretty do-able! How long are you in the actual caves? Is it a couple big caves or a bunch of little ones? Do you get to see much of the jungle? Thanks for helpin' me out!

You actually do a hike through the jungle - some areas are steep and slippery. The caves are 'just long enough' and I LOVE caves, so they were not long enough for me..lol. they are big ones and you wear a headlight as you float through them. Our guide was fantastic which helped! I went with my daughter and we locked on to our rafts to stay together (which didn't work some times) and she fell out from laughing so hard. The water wasn't that deep- just deep enough where you had to raise your bootie along one stretch otherwise you would get a bruise from a rock. Good luck on your decision.
