Default Just back from Glory

A bit disappointed. My room steward was outstanding, the rest of the crew left much to be desired. The pursers staff was awful. The dining room staff kept insisting on sitting a group of nine at a table designed for eight, which meant we were almost on top of each other. After much complaining, our dining time had to be moved in order to find a table to fit us all.

We really had a good time only because we enjoy crusing with our family and know how to make our own good time. Camp Carnival was great for the kids but only half of that staff seemed to enjoy their jobs. Oh and, What happened to the band by the pool?? When they did show it was a scrawny two man band who seemed to spend most time setting up. I didn't see any poolside games, no hair chest or belly flop contest. Very limited activities during the day. This was not one of my favorite ships and the pursers staff made me willing to give RCCL the extra dollar for the extra service. It will be a while before I book with Carnival again. I am still tired and recovering from my cruise, I have yet to mail in my complaint.

dreadlock - what a shame your cruise didn't live up to what it should have been - and a shocker that Carnival - the alleged fun ships-- has no poolside games, activities or even a decent Calyspo band.... hmmmm.

so basically you got a low budget, no frills no service cruise; that really stinks... hope you write them a nice letter  and make sure that they know you are a repeat cruiser as well...

in any event, sounds like you tried to make the best out of it and welcome home......

Carnival has definately become a low budget mess. Over the years I have watched the fun ships become alot less fun and some important aspects of the cruise experience dwindle away. One last gripe, no deck party cause of the weather. The worst part was that they didn't seem to have a plan B in place, I am sure this is not the first cruise where the deck party got rained out.

This is one of the first times I didn't mind debarkation.

I agree with you regarding Plan B for deck parties; how hard would it be to move it to one of the lounges -- for a "below the deck party" -- I realize the stage lounge may be getting the stage props set up in place; but most ships have two lounges

I was on the triumph and we stopped at four ports as opposed to two. We only had two sea days but the CD/social staff managed to squeeze in what you would find on a three port stop into two. They did the newlywed, the hair chest, everyday had Lido pool games, they had Sea Vivor (a poor version of survivor at sea--20 minutes and it was done). Everyday had at least two trivia contests and I even took part in the scavenger hunt (it was exhausting trying to find 30 items in 20 minutes, but we found 20, 10+ from my cabin alone). They had not one but two late night deck parties (Mexican fiesta and a 70's/890's dance party).

I never got any deck time because on the two sea days it was non-stop action with activities...not that I would have wanted to flake out on a deck chair in 40C (and hotter) weather!!!!!!

I agree that Carnival is becoming low budget. It was apparent during our 4-28 cruise on the Liberty. I for one would gladly pay more to have the old fun ship atomsphere return.

Hi

We have just arrived back from the Carnival Glory 15th December and experienced the same problems too.

We found the service in the Platinum Dining Room very poor and the breakfasts were luke warm at best. The Supper Club was excellent both service and food but really you expect a decent standard of food in the dining rooms too. There was certainly nothing there different from any other cruise line 'apart from singing waiters' to make this a 'fun ship'.

Cabin Steward was excellent and the bar staff were good too. Really enjoyed the majority of the shows although the male singer needs a little more experience.

Overall a very average cruise and not a patch on Princess but nice to try something diferent.

Kempo,

You returned the day I left. I am glad someone else can relate. I LOVE cruising and I am not picky, but I still thought maybe I was overreacting.

WOW! I've been on the Glory 4 times and it's one of my favorites. I've never experienced these things on any of the 4 cruises. By far, Carnival is still my choice for cruising. It's too bad this turned out to be a dud for you. I couldn't imagine wanting to ever look forward to disembarkation.

We were on the Glory the 1st week of December and never experienced any problems. We had a wonderful cruise. Sorry you had a bad time.

I was on the Glory in October and had a fantastic time. Personally, any vacation that I don't have to cook or clean is great. I can overlook any issues that some people might call a disappointment just because of the fact, it's not me having to do it

Wow we don't know what to think after reading some of the posts from recent cruisers just getting off the Glory. We have a cruise coming up in April 2008 on her. I for one just like to be away from work and on vacation. I am not a complainer. I sure hope we don't experience anything negative but then again when I stay at hotels not everything always goes perfect either but I make the best of it. I tend to just go with the flow and relax but my better half is a complainer so I hope all goes alright. I just want to have a fun 7 days on the ship to relax. Crossing my fingers.
