I was on the Carnival Freedom transatlantic cruise in October/November. What sort of info are you looking for?

Good prices can be had on these cruises generally. The shoulder seasons are when the ships transit from one area to another, for itinerary changes..Get a Cruise travel agency and let their experience work for you to get a great deal!

You will also find the majority of them, in spring and fall, when the ships have to move around and going to and from Alaska when that season starts/ends. If you can travel in those times, you can get a great cruise value.

Lots of fun, and very relaxing sea days, and the ports they do hit are usually ports that you won't normally find on regular cruises. We (the lovely Mrs. Jones and I) can't wait until I retire to be able to take advantage of these repositioning cruises. The only problem is that when the cruise is over, you're in Rome, and your car is in Miami.

See you aboard,

Ken

My husband and I have the same problem you do. I really wish the cruise lines had some cruises that leave a nearby port (like Galveston), go to Europe for several weeks, or longer, and then cruise BACK to Galveston. I would love that!!! I am not crazy about flying over the Atlantic Ocean. Of course, as of now, we have no choice!!! 8)

Default Where do we find repositioning cruises?

Would I contact a travel agent or who about repositioning cruises? Seems there isn't alot of info on them. The travel agent we have had experience with here in AZ has not been a good one.

Hi Tracy,
You may want to contact some of the internet t/a's. There are some that do work for Cruisemates that are very knowledgeable on repo's. Just e-mail any of the staff for a name or two.

We love the repositioning cruises! They are usually long and VERY relaxing. They usually have a higher number of "older" people on board. Most of the cruise lines show their repositioning cruises in their brochures. I know that Carnival does. The prices have been extremely reasonable for the lenght of time you are at sea. I do find that they stick to a 7 day program though. In other words, the menu in the dining room was repeated every seven days. I do remember that the entertainment was different every night. One night the ship "flew" in John Davidson to headline the entertainment. He was actually very, very good!

My suggestion is to call Carnival directly - the PVPs will have the most current information on repositioning cruises.

I realize that you won't necessarily get the absolutely lowest prices, but, IMO, the difference is not that important. I have used both PVPs and TAs and find that the PVPs are more responsive to my questions, etc - but that is just my experience.

Carnival is doing a repositioning cruise next year of the Carnival Pride from Los Angeles to Miami 14 days and transit the Panama Canal. I just asked Kuki about doing it as a CruiseMates Group. He was taking it under consideration. It will be in March of 2009.

Wow, that would be great depending on the week. School is out for 2 weeks for Spring break. Let me know when you find out more. Thanks for the insight.

My wife and I are very interested in this cruise with her mom and younger sisters joining us since we all want to cruise the Panama Canal and making it a cruisemates cruise would make it all the better!
