Maybe it is time for Carnival to entertain other architects to design future ships. I just sailed on the Freedom and found the decor at all venues a violent clash of colors and designs that created a wild frenzy of unsettling lights and color/design combinations.

My suggestion is to tone it down a notch or two. Carnival Freedom's designs were way over the top with no rhyme or reason. Joe Farcus can justify all his designs but that doesn't make them good.

These are my personal feelings, please don't slam me for expressing my opinion.

Thanks for posting that. I've found that all of his designs eventually grow on me (even the Miracle's dining room ) but often wonder what they are about. Some are very obvious, others are not. I've only found a couple articles, such as when a new ship launches, that went in to detail room by room. I think it would be interesting to have something like that on every ship but there is nothing on Carnival's site that I have found.

Thanks again.

Each of us have our own tastes, and yes, some of the ships are outrageous. My mom/brother/wench in law/niece were on the Sensation and all they could comment on was "purple everywhere." That was it, purple, purple, purple.

I have seen the virtual tours of many of the ships and the one (Conquest class) that really is over the top tacky is Valor. I am Canadian, so to me it's interiors is a salute to the US, not to heros or heroics.....I might sail on it one day, but for now I won't....

I LOVED the carpet in the Caribbean lounge on the Victory. It has octopi and sailfish in the pattern!!!

I was on the Carnival Freedom for the Transatlantic Cruise and have to wonder what school of architecture Joe Farcus went to. I am not speaking about the color palette or the theme - I am referring to the Faux Pas in designing certain spaces.

Could someone please explain the wisdom of having a stanchion in the middle of the dance floor in the Swingtime Lounge? There were two stanchions in this lounge and I understand their necessity. But you can't tell me that one could not have designed the space in such a way as the stanchions were in the middle of the seating area, not in the middle of the dance floor.

On the promenade, again, what is with the stanchions. Couldn't Mr. Farcus have designed the spaces incorporating the stanchions? For example, at the coffee bar, the stanchion was about one foot from the counter - why not extend the counter out that one foot and incorporate the stanchion.

What a Farcus, if you ask me.

Are you people implying that the "Fun Ships" decor is eccentric? Don't say that they are cheeky!
No, I think we know that they are, but we love them anyway. I was on the Valor and where else can you dine in a peach colored dining room? On the Legend it was urns.....EVERYWHERE. From the Inspiration I recall some sort of art piece as the center-point of the atrium. Of course I hadn't a clue as to what that art was supposed to be, but hey...I'm sure it was something artsy.
