Default Hotel for New Orleans Fantasy Cruise

Does anyone know of a reasonable hotel near the port in New Orleans? We really don't want to stay right in the French Quarter but want to stay across the bridge (from Slidell).

Gail, check out the Clarion St. Charles. We stayed there a couple of weeks ago for a football game. The rooms are not large, but nice. The beds were fantastic. I'll stay there again just because of the beds.
We paid less than $90 for a night, that included taxes, parking and all the other charges they could come up with.
I would guess it is a 5 minute taxi ride to the pier. I don't think they offer a shuttle, but you should ask just in case.

We cruised on the Grandure of the Seas - she used to sail from New Orleans. You'll love it sailing from there!! Beware of the cab drivers - we had one that tried to pretend he didnt know where the cruise terminal was to charge us extra ( we stayed in the French Quarter about 6 blocks from Julia St cruise terminal).

We stayed at the Drury Inn which is 2 blocks from the French Quarter on Poydras. It's also straight down the street from the cruise terminal. It's very nice, they have wine and beer at 5:00 pm. Also breakfast is included.

you might try the Hubbard Mansion on St Charles, which is a beautiful B@B outside of the French Quarter and a cable car ride away from the Port
