Default Guitar Hero on Carnival Ships?

Does anyone know if Guitar Hero is available for teens on Carnival ships?

Thanks,

I don't know the answer to your question, but if they do offer it on the cruise I hope they keep the door closed tight, I hear way more than enough Rock Band for 360 at home already!

On the Carnival Freedom I don't think they had it. The O2 director did mention it though. If I remember correctly he said some ships did have it for O2. Really hard to say though. . .

Do I sense a Guitar Hero fan??

I haven't seen it, or heard anyone talk about it on any of our recent cruises. Good luck with finding it aboard.

Thank you for your input.

For those of you who are unaware, Guitar Hero is a video game for Playstation 2 & 3, X-Box, etc.

My children (17 & 19) enjoy playing this game and I was hoping that it would be part of the "teen programs" or maybe even a contest in a lounge somewhere (like trivia contests or even sport contests). Younger passengers would be very familiar with Guitar Hero and probably really enjoy contests against other passengers.

As for me, I've only played one song (while my kids laughed at me) so I think I'll stick with the trivia and music contests.

Guitar Hero would be awesome, my husband and I love that game. We also have Rockband, which would also be fun. I bet the cruise ships will have them some day soon, for kids and adults.

when i went on the carnival freedom and the carnival valor they had it.
it really depends on the club director if they bring it out. on the freedom we played it all the time, but on the valor we had to beg the director to bring it out and when he finally did he couldnt set it up right so he told us it was broken.

Well its for the teens, and its in the teen club. They hook it up to one of the many huge flat screen tvs. (maybe plasmas) that are in the teen club. They have a few guitars so people can battle. Also there are tournaments and you can just play whenever. The teen clubs have tons of different popular video games as well.

Default Teen club?

So is it safe to say that you have to be a teen to play Guitar Hero? Or is there a time when adults can go into the club and play....

Yes. You pretty much have to be a teen to play guitar hero. But on sea days people are just coming and going our of the club that i don't think they would care if adults came in and played too. The teens on the other hand might get upset.

I don't have any children but I was definitely a good source of Guitar Hero laughter from my friends. Perhaps I should seek out the trivia and music contests as well.

if guitar hero or rock band has been in the teen lounge on our July 07 Sensation cruise, he would have gone in there. He has both games, and I hear enough of it at home. I learned not to cruise with him again until he's much older as he really only wanted to hang out in the cabin when we were not on an excursion, other than hitting the video arcade, mini golf and checking out a few things on the entertainment stage on the Lido deck.

I understand that the cruiselines want to make it fun for teens and these games certainly do bring kids together, so that's a good thing. it sounds like they might want to have another room setup for those over 18 who also love video games! An adult arcade, with things like PacMan, Asteroids (one of my favorites!) and a bunch of other oldies for us older folks! Perhaps a pool table or 2 or 10, as well! And you have to be 21 or older to get in, as they would also serve drinks. I love playing pool!
As long as it would be smoke-free, that is!

The ship might have too much motion for a pool table. I can hear the complaints now but an adult arcade might be fun. Of course I try to do things that are not as easily availiable to me at home (such as using the pool) while i'm on the ship.

Dear Michelle & Joe:

There were self-leveling pool tables on the Radiance of the Seas. My husband and son used them and were amazed.

So, Michelle, looks like we're about the same age...do you remember Atari Pong???

Heck yeah. Pong was the first video game I ever played, and probably the first one made. Ms. Pac Man was good. I knew a girl who knew the patterns and could play all day. By the way, they have an adult arcade, they call it a casino. No space invaders, but I never won money on that anyway.

My 16 year old son tells me that they had Guitar Hero on the Triumph when we sailed on her last summer.

If the guitar hero is in the teen area they might not let your 19 year old in as the club only goes to 17. I agree with the pool tables and arcade games for us older people.

While this thread is in the ballpark of being a year and a half old, I wanted to bump it and see if anything has changed with respect to Rock Band / Guitar Hero....FOR THE ADULTS!

Girlfriend and I were on Liberty in November of 2008 and never seen it anywhere, but at that time we wern't looking either.

In early 2009 we were invited to a friends house, another couple we get together with occasionally for drinks, etc. They are in their mid 20's I guess. They asked, "Have you ever played Rock Band". To which we replied, "We have heard of it, and know what it is, but we have never played it."

Long story short, we were instantly HOOKED and had a blast at their place that night. So much so, that we contemplated buying it for about a month, and finally caved and threw down almost $800 for a PS3, Rock Band 2, and the extra guitar.

I hadn't played video games for years, I had gotten out of it, and almost a year later, we are still playing it, and have added Rock Band 1, the AC/DC track pack, and quite a few downloads including the Queen pack, and many classic rock songs from artists like the Cars, Police, Boston, etc.

It's almost a weekend ritual for us to play it for a few hours and have a few beers if we are spending an evening at home. It's connected to our 57 inch TV AND our home theatre with surroud sound and two subwoofers in our basement. While our neighbors have never said they have heard us, I know we have our basement just jumping!

We are in our mid 30's and have the occasional party at our home and it's a pretty big hit for our guests. It is really fun, I mean, you're kinda playing your own party music! Just turn on the no fail mode and it doesn't matter how good or bad you are, you won't fail out of the game. If people can it least make it through the song, in my experience, they have more fun instead of replaying the same first few seconds of their favorite song over again.

I was in Las Vegas for a week in the spring of 2009, and there was an outdoor bar right on the strip with a stage and it was covered in Rock Band banners.

I believe Rock Band is esentially the 21st century of Karaoke!

Hence, they still do Karaoke on Carnival ships, maybe it's time to evolve it? It's the best of both works, you can sing in Rock Band, just like Karaoke, but you can add up to three more people on stage.

Can't you just see this one night, or an hour or two per night in the Karaoke lounge, or in the larger lounge next door (like on Valor & Liberty) where people can get up and sing / play their favorite songs? I think it would be much more entertaining for the crowd as well. Alot of fun for the players, and the viewers...These are "Fun Ships" aren't they?

Individual people could get up and sing by themselves, just like Karaoke. Parents could get up and "Rock Out" with they kids in the "Family Band".

We would LOVE to see this on Miracle when we go in November!

I usually play guitar. Most of the classic rock songs I can play expert level and get 95% and the girlfriend is quite impressive I believe getting over 95% most times on the same songs on hard level!

I really think they should try this out on a small level, for the adults / whole family just to gauge the interest in it...We'll play for sure! I'm sure I would do better at Rock Band, and be more entertaining than I did at Karaoke on Valor in 2006!

Why? Are the teens now hanging out in the adult areas? I made these comments / suggestions to be geared at the adult and / or the family audience. Again, I believe Rock Band is starting to become the 21st century version of Karaoke and is "Fun" for all ages.

Teens may be aware of it, if it is in the teen areas, but I would like to see it in the adult areas.
