Default Solo cruisers and upgrades?

Has anyone ever taken a category guarantee as a solo cruiser then get upgraded? I am booked and took a inside guarantee and got stuck on the middle inside hall on Riveria deck/ Fantasy. When I asked my PVP about it I was told solo cruisers rarely get upgraded......is this true?

While less likely than couples, it does happen. Happened twice to me [from 1a to 4a/4b].

I just sailed on Carnival Liberty as a single cruiser. I booked category 6A Riviera Deck and was upgraded to Main Deck category 6B

I have tried twice with 1A guarantees and both times struck out. The first time they even assigned the cabin in 48 hours. Best of luck. I am a VIP but it is money and how much you payed for the cabin which determines who gets moved. So 2 would be moved before one.

When I booked Cat 1A guarantees as a solo, I almost always got upgraded. However the upgrade was never higher than a Cat 4-something. Never been upgraded to an OV or higher.

I think Carnival would rather make two people happy than one so solos are not upgraded any further than another inside cabin or a higher letter in whatever Category they are booked in.

If you don't mind an inside cabin, Cat 1A's are better than Cat 4-somethings int hat many of the Cat 1A's are unique in shape and are sometimes larger than a Cat 4-something. Some Cat 1A's only have one bed on the floor which makes for much more floor space to move around.

Once I learned that Cat 1A's are actually a bit nicer than the run-of-the-mill Cat 4-somethings, I no longer book guarantees. I just book whichever Cat 1A cabin I can get. I have learned where the great 1A's are located on the various ships.

I don't care about an upgrade.. my first cruise with my teenage son was an OV, my second one is a specific 1A inner/inner near the rear of the Fascination Empress deck, with one bed on the floor and a bunk overhead that will not be opened as I'm going solo. I don't plan to be in the cabin other than to sleep, shower, and change clothes! I'm sure since there's only one bed on the floor that the room will be sufficient, space-wise.

I have never been in that cabin but I am will to beat there is a reason why it is sitting there by itself. It actually looks a bit larger than the other Category 4's on that deck. I would definitely grab it. It may be situated next to the Room Attendant's station where the ice machine is. However, for the sound of a little ice at night, I beat it is a glorious cabin. You will not hear the elevators at all.

I would recommend it unless you need absolute silence to sleep. Then grab a cabin sandwiched between two other rows of cabins. This particular cabin is under Lido Deck at the entrance to the buffet and over more cabins.

I think it is a keeper.

However, do let me know if my suggestions are on target.

Thanks for the info ibcruzin. I noticed that it's just under the entrance of the buffet on lido deck, but that won't be a problem for me, as long it is dark enough I'll sleep through anything. I've reserved it for my May 4-10 on the C.Liberty and for just usd 399 per person, so sounds like a great deal to me.
