Excursion to Chitzen Itza from Progreso

Has anyone done an excursion to CHitzen Itza from Progreso? Was it worth the money? Should we just try to rent a car and go ourselves?

We did that tour when we cruised on the Pride. That was a few years ago and I think the price was 89.00 p/p. I am sure it is higher now? This was a tour we really enjoyed. It was a long trip in a air conditioned bus.
We did stop once for a break at an area where local folks were trying to sell us trinkets but that was alright to. The site itself is awesome and I did climb the one pryamid, which was a little scary but worth it. This one tour was the biggest reason we took this particular cruise. I would do it again if I had another chance. This tour was about 4-5 hours if I recall??

We went to Chichen Itza the first week of December 2007. We had a great time and was glad we went as there is really not too much to do in Progreso. The Mayans are very fascinating people...this is a must see. It is a new 7 wonders of the world...
