Default Carnival Liberty, March 29th

Anyone cruising on Carnival Liberty, 29th of March?

Just though I would see if anyone was there, cruising the same time we will be cruising?

Well it is NICE to know there is someone else here on the forum that is going on the same ship/time as the two of us.

This will be my 8th cruise and my friend's 1st. She is a little worried about getting sick, but I told her with a BIG ship like this, it will be doubtful if this happens.

A year ago we had a couple people at our table from Canada, and then met a wonderful family from Canada also, that I have been emailing back and forth once in a while.

Will this be your first on the Liberty, or even the Carnival line? Another friend and I went on the Carnival Triumph, and LOVED it, and decided to try Carnival again. Actually the reason we are doing the Liberty is beause I "discovered" Tortola, and wanted to see it, as I've been to most of the other islands before.

Maybe we will meet some time on the ship

Default Liberty - March 29-08

Hi again. This is our 3rd Carnival cruise. The only line we've tried, but we love it. The only places we've been to on the itinerary are St. Thomas and Bahamas. We also always get a balcony room because that's all we've known. Its nice to watch the ship pulling in and out of port, from the comfort of your room. :D

Yes, a balcony can be nice, but I found I/we don't use it that much. I have had all the rooms, except the "Penthouse", which I don't need in the first place.

We are having a room with window, as my friend was a little leary, of having a room that might be below the water, which "I know" there is no problem with, but this way, they can SEE that they are "above" the water.

I found (of course everyone is different in what they want to do on a cruise) that I am in my room very little, and constantly on the go, except to shower/change/get dressed, or go to bed.

We are "anxiouxly" waiting for the 29th to come. Here in Missouri our Winter weather has come early this year with quite a bit of snow and ice, which is still on the ground, with a temperature of around 10 degrees when I came to work this morning. Burr!!

Hi, we are also on this cruise. We are from Boston Massachusetts.

We have never cruised on Carnival before. Can't wait.

We are staying at Rodeway Inn & Suites in FLL on Friday night.

We have booked excursions online but not thru Carnival they are the same as Carnival has but we went direct and saved 20%.
1 is Eco Tour in Antigua and 1 is Jet/Ski Snorkel in St Thomas.

Let me know if you have question, ideas or advice.
Thanks See You Onboard

I was just on the Carnival Liberty in October '07. I had a great 6 day cruise to the Western Caribbean. I had an oceanview on the 1st deck, was well above the water and the cabin had plenty of room. You all will have a great time on the Liberty!

Helllllo, I'm just getting MORE excited each time someone replies to this forum.

Scott, I believe you said you were on the Liberty last year and were on the 1st deck with the oceanview? Was that the Rivera deck? The reason I ask, we have the oceanview, and I believe it is the 1st deck also. Our TA said it was called the Rivera. Have you posted a report, and if not, could you give me a few pros/cons of what you thought of the ship?

Cinbear, what a coincidence, that you are from Missouri also. I live in Kansas City or Gladstone, MO. I work for a large company just a couple minutes from the airport. Makes it handy for flying. When I go to the lake (Branson area), it seems like it takes forever coming back to K.C, as we are so far North. Where do you live in Missouri? Are you planning on leaving on the 29th or the day before? We are leaving on the 29th by Midwest, and a straight flight, getting us there early in plenty of time, unlesssssssssss there is a snow blizzard.

Oh before I forget, for those of you who are going on this one, I am on another website at home, and we're trying to make up a get-together for those who are talking back and forth on the forums. If you are interested further, I'll try to let you know the details as they make them. I think it would be neat to meet the people who you are writing to on the forums.

Everyone have a great evening. It is to sleet/snow here, starting tonight.

I always meant to write a review, but I never got around to it. A couple things I didn't like, but a WHOLE lot I loved about the ship. I was on the Riviera Deck in the Aft portion of the ship. The cabin was an oceanview, and I loved the cabin! It has a lot of room, layed out really well, shower had plenty of room and SO MUCH closet space! The food was probably the best I ever had on a cruise ship, and the entertainment was good.

The only thing I didn't like was the ship layout. You could only get between the forward and aft sections on a couple of decks. So you have to go up and down between decks to get to the other end of the ship. They put the 2 dining rooms in the middle of the ship, which I really couldn't understand and is the main reason for the up and down on different decks to navigate the ship. Also, the dining rooms themselves were layed out odd, we were seated in the Silver Olympian on the lowest level next to the outside wall. The next level up was about 3 feet higher than our level, so we spent most nights looking at the legs and table clothes of those seated in the next level. I did like the Promenade deck and how they put it on the outside wall, and not down the center of the ship.

The pools and hot tubs were very nice, although kind of small. The casino was nice and I really liked the sports bar. The interior design of the ship takes a bit of getting used to. You'll know what I mean when you see the disco! I can't really describe it except to say that whomever designed it has a very odd sense of humor.

As a long time RCI cruiser, I was very pleased with the Carnival cruise experience on the Carnival Liberty. I did this cruise as part of a group cruise and with single cruise fare, taxes, port charges, gratuities and airfare I only paid about $500 for the cruise which is why I went. While I would take another Carnival Cruise again in a heartbeat, I will probably stick with RCI because of the return cruiser perks and pricing I get now in RCI's C&A society. However, I might be looking to take my wife on one of the newly refurbished Carnival ships in Spring of '09! Considering it anyway!

brneyes - We live in Lee's Summit and work in Overland Park. Can't wait to leave this awful weather behind. We are going down to FL a day early on the Midwest nonstop and stay at the Ft. Lauderdale Doubletree. Which flight are you coming back home on? We are on the Midwest 11:15 am nonstop - sure hope we don't run into a problem!!

ilovecruises22 - We have three teenagers going with us. girl/13, boys/15 & 18. How old are you? I will have them post. They are all very excited about making new friends.

kojack, you said you were on the Liberty recently? Would you want to give a little pro/cons of what you thought of the ship?

Scott, thanks for your review. It was helpful, but I have a couple questions.

In regard to the dining room, we will have the 8:00 seating. Will we find out which dining room it is, once we board ship?

Since we are going to be on the same deck as you were, it sounds like that part will be fine, room also.

This is no biggie, but do you remember which (I believe you said two) deck went completely through. I would like to know ahead of time, so I can plan accordingly of my getting around on the ship to the places I want to go.

cinbear, well it looks like you are a distance from the airport, where I am really close, you work also. Of course, if you would go down to Branson, or someplace like that, you would be muc closer than I. I don't think we will be on the same flight as you folks coming back, as we have a late flight out of Florida on Midwest, which is 7:50pm. We are leaving Saturday at 7:00, and HOPE the weather is good. That should give us plenty of time to be on board ship. I do want to mention something, just in case you did not read/hear it. On April 6th, when we are coming back, they are taking some of the Midwest flights off/out of Kansas City. You might want to check and see if your schedule is still correct.

Maybe we will still run into each other while we are on board ship.
