Default Question about FLL hotel - need advice please

Hi - I am sailing out of FLL (flying into FLL) in November. I just checked the rates and the rate for standard room is almost 200.00. Should I book it now? Or do you think the price will drop? I'm thinking personally that since its the winter month, it might be at its lowest and price increase as summer gets here? Whats your opinion. Oh - I'm talking about Comfort Suites in FLL. It has a free shuttle from airport and then again to the terminal the next a.m. Thanks......

Sounds high to me...are you booking the room around Thanksgiving? Do you belong to AAA or AARP? Have you tried Travelocity, Priceline or any of the other booking agents?

Try using the alternative sites that rosetattoo pointed out and get an idea of what hotels are going for then go to http://biddingfortravel.com and then get an idea what hotels are going for in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. Then bid that amount on Priceline.

Hotels may have free shuttles but a cab ride from the hotel to the airport and hotel to the port will be around $10, maximum. A "free shuttle" should not be the determining factor in choosing a hotel.

Take care,
Mike

We are staying at the Ramada Airport/Cruiseport next month and the rate was around $170 including tax. They have shuttle service which helps us out. Friends are driving to the hotel and they are leaving their car at the hotel for the cruise. The cost is $3.00 per day if I remember right. Sure is cheaper than parking at the port. The only down side to this property is the location, nothing nearby. We will be taking a taxi to any of the sites we want to see. I visited the hotel in Nov. and was pleased with it. Had a good resturant on site, good pool and bar area. Hope this helps

Comfort Inn and Suites is going for 85 bucks on expedia.com

I looked at four pages of nine and none of the hotels were over 100.00 yet.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express plantation Fl. We drove, but the Airport and cruise terminals are within 5 to 10 miles. I can't say if they have shuttles to terminal and airport , you would have to contact them. Rates are from $143.00 per night. It is a quiet hotel and very well appointed with a very nice complimentary breakfast . Their front desk phone # is 954-472-5600, or you can make reservations on line at Ichotelsgroup.com

We stayed recently at Hampton Inn near the Airport. AAA and or AARP good discount. Should be around $90 or 2. Free Shuttle to Port and Airport. Very nice Hotel with Morning Breakfast included. If you have car you can leave it here in their parking lot for $20 for 10 days. Good deal.

What a difference a month makes! That hotel (on expedia) is 200.00 a night in April and 90.00 in May.
In November the rate is 100.00

Hello, Being from the Ft.Lauderdale area I can say that there are so many hotels near or around the airport. I would even suggest checking out hotels on Stirling Road. It's only around 15 min from the port and can normally find rooms from 60-80. If you want to stay at a nicer hotel I for one would highly recomend the Hard Rock hotel and casino on Stirling. Should be able to get a room for around $150 and the pool there is like being at the beach. One of the nicest pools I've ever seen. Put many vegas pools to shame. The hotels on the same exit as the airport are just more expensive and not even the nicer hotels in the area.

Remember, if you book through the hotel website, you can change your rate if the price drops or cancel the reservation if you find something better. If you book through sites like Priceline, Expedia, etc., you can't. We always check the other sites and if one is showing a price cheaper than the hotel's website, we call the hotel and, most of the time, they will match Priceline's, Expedia's, etc. rate.

Hi Cheryl, our two favorites are LaQuinta, Hollywood, FL, and Hampton Inn, Plantation, FL. Both have a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, (& free parking while you cruise if you're driving), a continental breakfast and a shuttle from the hotel to the port.

We've stayed at both and the employee's are friendly and the rooms are clean.

The Hampton is within walking distance of a mall and the LaQuinta is within walking distance of an open air shopping area.

Neither are near the beach , but the price's are reasonable.

We paid less than $100.00/pn each time we stayed with either of these hotels.

Thanks for the advice xan51090! I didn't think of that and Fern.......we actually are thinking of the Hampton, but the price is like 170 for the time we are going. I have a motto ------- you get what you pay for!

Hi Cheryl,

We are thinking of going on the Freedom to Panama in Jan 09. I'd love to hear how you liked it and also the hotel you choose in FLL.

How are you doing?

Hey! I'm doing fine! I was just thinking of you last night! I have been to the Panama Canal before - just not on the Freedom. Looking forward to it. This will be a trip for my daughter and myself (one of the ones I promised after my surgery). The other is in alaska in -09. But, I'm doing fine - how are you?

Doing great! How was the Panama Canal trip. Did you transit the canal or go to Colon? I'm thinking about about the shore tour that goes on a ferry through the canal or the Panama City tour that 'visits' the canal. Have you done either of those?

-9 pounds since we last spoke!

Now I'm up to 67 pounds! Things are going good. We went through the canal (expensive) and glad we did ... but don't want to do it again. LONG and tiring.

Be careful about motels in Ft Lauderdale with cheap rates. In 06 I found what I thought was a bargin only to be stuck in the getto.
Do your homework you should be fine.
