Fun Ship Dollars
Okay all that are new and have fun ship dollars dont forget
you have to mail them to carnival ahead of your cruise to
get the credit put on your sign and sail card.

Forgot all about that and colled carnival to make sure that is
what I was to do
Unless you plan on using them to pay your cruise off then you
can give them to your travel agent if you used one and she
will take them off the total due.

The ones I have to mail in were given to me as gifts for the
holidays. so I do have to send them back to carnival and the
letter must be registered.

that makes no since can you have carnival just applie the credit to your account instead of all that postage.

When I ordered mine I just had them applied toward my sign and sail card. When we checked in I had already paid 200.00 toward the card and only had to put another 50.00 on the sign and sail. It's the best way to do it. When you order the funship dollars don't have them mailed, apply them toward your card. It's great.

When you order them your self you can have them just apply them
to your sign and sail card. Now mine were all gifts so I have to send
them back to carnival to give me credit. Has to be mailed back to
carnival 14 days before your sailing date.

We bought fun ship dollars for our cruise January 3rd. We did not mail them in, we just took them to the purser's desk when we got on the ship and had them applied to our sign and sail card. When we got up on the last morning our bill was under our door along with a check for the money that we did not spend. That was a wonderful surprise.

I forgot to mail them in on our first cruise and took them to the pursers desk. They gave me the credit. This time I have since mailed them by certified mail for on board credit. The reason I get the certificates at home is because I stock pile them over a long period of time. I like receiving the fancy envelopes with the certifcate enclosed. I take the fancy envelopes and use them as tip envelopes for deserving staff. Makes them smile! You can also purchase them on the web site and simply type in on board credit and they credit it that way.

can someone explain fun ship dollars to me and the reason people purchase them. I understand if you receive as a gift, but are they sold somewhere for a discount. Is there a website to get discount fun ship dollars?

i recall my first carnival trip, i won some silly game onboard and received a $10 in fun ship dollars. I had no idea what it was. I thought just a soulvenier never realizing it was worth money to my s&s card. I'm sure I tossed it.

you can buy them on the carnival website they arent a discount but they are good to get if you want to have paid for the cruise before you sail you can use them to buy the cruise or on the ship they are kindof like prepaying an amount that you are going to use on the ship

Where do you go on the website to buy them?

melissaj426 February 1st, 2008 04:55 PM

up at the top go to gifts and then you can see a section on the left hand side that has different types of gifts from there just click gift certificates!

Ro February 1st, 2008 08:35 PM

We purchase them and stock pile them and the only reason I mail them certified is I like receiving them by mail and use the card envelopes to put tip money in them. Also this year I put them in gift boxes and wrapped them for my fiance' for Christmas.
I buy them for the simple reason I like to have everything paid for ahead of time like I said in an earlier post. You save nothing buying them just peace of mind that you are paid in full for your on board credit when you apply them ahead of time.

What gets me is I read on the certificates that they cannot be used as gratitudies and I wonder why not ? To me it is like a check and they cash it am I wrong thats why I wanted to buy them but choose not to because of that reason

I found out from my other cruises they just put it all as on board credit and they just subtract all your expenses meaning the tips, what you purchase on board and anything else from the total. I never had them say to me you need other means of paying for just the tips they just subtracted the total and what I didn't spend they gave back and if I needed more money than simply took it out of a credit card I left as my sign & sail card. I don't rake up big bills on cruises. I usually have it all paid before hand so I know what my limit is and I don't have to worry about charging it on a credit card and paying for it later.
