Hi Gail, I have not done the dolphin swim in Cozumel so I can't give you my opinion. But there is a lot of info on tripadvisor, here is a link:
http://www.tripadvisor.com/SearchFor...i6-Mexico.html

hope you find what you are looking for!

Barry

p.s. My daughter and I did the dolphin swin in Nassau and it was awesome! Your hubby will love it!

I've done the swim & it is AWESOME! In the encounter all you do is stand on a platform and pet the dolphins. In the swim you actually get in the water with them, it was the best experience ever! I will do it again on my next cruise. Book early in the morning so you can spend the rest of the day at Chankanaab park, that is an awesome place by itself. (not the best beach ... but a great place)

Have fun!

Gail, we did the Royal Dolphin Swim and it was awesome. With this excursion we got to swim and play with the dolphins. We saw the other excursions and they did not have the interaction with the dolphins like we did. We are leaving on 02/08/08 for a week in Cozumel and are going to spend 1-2 days at Chankanaab Park. Hit me back in a few weeks if you want more details about the park. The Royal Swim is about $140.00 and worth every penny.

Gail,
You can go and watch some of the swims only charge $25 for you while others charge the full price. We did not know you could do this until we were on the ship. Hope this helps, you could probably call Carnival.

You might want to look at booking the dolphin experience at Chakanaab directly. It is really convenient to get a cab from the port to the park and back. Here is their website.

http://www.cometocozumel.com/english...es-dolphin.asp

I have been to Chakanaab a couple of times. The park is beautiful. I have never did the dolphin swim but was able to get fairly close to watch.

I don't think you would run into any issues about getting back to the ship.

We leave on April 13th. Do you suggest we book online or with the cruise ship? I worry that if something happens and we can't make it, we won't get our refund..which would be around $800. Which is the best, the royal swim or the swim adventure?

I did the Dolphin swim and snorkle (the dolphin encounter is the same price and you do it at the same time) at Chankanaab park. I loved it. It was great. Yes, it is $169, but well worth it. I`ll be posting my pics on webshots and I have 29 pics I filtered down to from 70ish. I have an underwater camera and it takes excellent pics (Olympus 770SW, 70-SW is cheaper and only good for 10 feet underwater vs 770`s 33 feet)

We did the Royal, and it is unbelievedable. Why not to it all, and not have to stand back, and see others having more fun than you.

Luanne, is the dolphin Royal the one where the dolphin swims under you and lifts you up? Would my husband like it? Is there an age limit or weight limit? My husband is very tall, thin but tall.
Thanks!!

That is the one, and it's the best. I cannot describe the enjoyment we had on that day. Also plan to eat at the restaurant, not the snack bar. The food was to die for.

It did not matter on the size of the person. Not to worry!!

Luanne,
Do you recommend reserving now or waiting until we are on the ship? Does this excursion fill up fast? I know it is more expensive on the ship, but I worry we won't get a refund if we can't make it somehow.

Conner,

The last time I looked, the Royal swim was not offered from the ship.

Contact Cozumelindsider. com Tell Sherry in your e-mail that Luanne from Texas sent you. She will get you the best prices and times.

If something should happen and the ship not get there, it should be a full refund.
