Default 1 Ship- 2 Johns

Those of you who haven't read my Daily Reports from the Blogger's Cruise wouldn't have seen this paragraph from Day 1's report.... so thought I'd repost it here.....

I’m not sure I am to report this, because it’s not fact, and not yet set in stone, but John did hint to me later in private, that if things work out, Elton John MAY be performing during the 2009 John Heald Blogger’s Group Cruise. For now it’s a rumor, but keep your eyes peeled.

By the time I left the ship at the end of the cruise, from further discussions, I did believe that Elton John may indeed be there for everyone booking the Blog2NOLA cruise. Still nothing written in stone.... but it would certainly be an exciting event!

It might be on the ship. It could be as part of the pre-cruise event... who knows?

But I do know a ticket to see Elton John in Las Vegas costs almost as much as this entire cruise. Just another reason to jump on the Bloggers 2 bandwagon!!

Hoping in the next couple of weeks we'll have something else novel and fun to entice even more of you to come along Stay tuned to CruiseMates to see ............

Quite a few people reading... I'm kind of surprised there aren't more posting about the possibility of seeing Elton John close up and personal.

Out of curiousity.. what are your favorite EJ songs that you'd like to see him perform?" Maybe we can supply him with a favorites list!

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Daniel, and Rocket Man are among my favorites. I remember the only time I saw him live was in late 1975 or 1976. He had Kiki Dee with him and he put on a great show. It was one of the first concerts in the brand new Lloyd Noble Arena on the University of Oklahoma campus. A big venue then. I recall that David Boren who would later become a United States Senator and now the current President of the University was there on a date. I'm sure that that was the furthest thing on his mind at the time. And I had yet to go on my first cruise. Ah, Elton John takes me down Memory Lane. It would be amazing to see him on the Fantasy.

I like em all. Anything he does is great. Him and Bernie make such a great team.

Shame he won't do the Diana tribute ever again.

Kuki, I think I'm still in shock that this can all come together!

My favorite would have to be Candle in the Wind. Daniel, Crocodile Rock, all of them!

All I can say is "WOW!"

when I read the title of your post, I thought you were referring to the men's room on the ship

I love the early EJ stuff..do you know that EJ is the biggest crossover artist other then Hall and Oats from that era..even Stevie Wonder does EJ's songs in concerts

I love most all of Elton John's stuff. My favorites are "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters" and "Tiny Dancer". The only song of his that I truly can't stand is "Candle in the Wind". It just rubs me the wrong way for some reason.

This would be amazing if this rumor turns out to be true. It's kind of what prompted me to book early.

Laura... I think that there's an excellent chance that it will happen. And I don't think I stepped on any toes "publishing it". When John H talked to me about it, he didn't give me an "off the record", plus I know he read my daily reports... so he saw it... and never asked me to remove it.

When it does get to be official I'm sure we'll see a BIG BANG annoucement, and then we can say.... I knew that!

One ship two johns.... Sound like our connecting staterooms lol... two rooms next door to each other, to be on one ship, so we could have two johns.

Ya know I think if this group keeps growing at such an exponential rate, we're going to need more than two johns.... perhaps they can add a couple during the refurb

I see an avatar that will do.

I had a better line, but I'm too new (or not brave enough) to post it.

BTW Kooter--I noticed your two Johns rumor on another site. That doesn't seem right.

Not to burst Kuki's bubble or anything, but it's probably the worst kept "rumor" around. Someone came into the piano bar the same night that John hinted at it and told me and some others about it. And he wasn't a reporter type or anything. Then I started hearing about it from lots of people.

John is quite the politician. I love him, but I often take what he says with a grain of salt. And occasionally a whole shaker!

Laura,
Yes, John did hint at it on stage when he announced Blogger's 2. So he of course knew that rumor would spread.... and I took it as just rumor ala John.

Later in private discussions he did tell me how he'd met Elton John at a function on his break, and had brought the issue up with him and got a very positive reaction.

If he was saying it about any other cruise, I'd have indeed taken it with a grain of salt. But, if in fact he ties this in with NOLA tourism, and Habitat for Humanities, I could easily see it coming together. Sir Elton is now performing regularly in Vegas, so not far to go.

There's actually all sort of potential to make this entire event a bigger deal, if Carnival chooses to forge ahead and make it so.

Anyway... that's why I didn't hesitate to take the discussion public. John H hinted about it publicly, and again to me privately with more detail. Obviously he wanted to the rumor to be put out there

There's going to be plenty of other rumors "coming out" to over the coming months. Even if none of them come to be true, it's going to be a VERY FUN cruise!

well, what the heck, let's start some more "rumors"...(my grandfather always use to say, make it a big enough rumor then no one will know whether it will happen or not)...let's see::

- Brad and Angelina "may" be helping out with our volunteer Habitiat For Humanity volunteer effort (fact...they do have a project that works in partnership with HFH)::

- Mayor Ray Nagin "may" make a surprise visit to see us off on our cruise (fact- his limo drives by the Convention Center all the time in the course of his normal business day)::

-Carnival "may" bring in a larger ship if the advance booking from the CM group exceeds the capacity of the Fantasy (fact: yea right)::

- a certain "blonde bombshell" who resides in the New Orleans area and who has been in constant trouble "may" be on our cruise (fact:Melody is a blonde and does stay in trouble on these boards and will be on the ship)::
