Taxes and port charges:Carnival charging too much?
I'm looking to go in March on the Carnival Valor or the Costa Fortuna. Both prices are Usd 499 per person. C.Valor will leave from Miami going to Nassau, St.Thomas and St.Maarten, and the Costa Fortuna is also leaving from FLL going to San Juan, St.Maarten, Tortola and Nassau.
However Carnival is charging me Usd 192.21 for taxes and port charges, and Costa is charging me Usd 125.26. Both prices are for 2 person.
Is Carnival charging too much?? because it's not the first time I have noticed this on Carnival.

Actually cruiselines no longer disclose what the port charges actually are since the lawsuits several years ago. So to not disclose what they are you now have commissionable and non-commissionable fees. Some agencies still call them port charges though.
Each cruiseline negotiates with the port as to what its fees will be. I believe you probably will find that the higher fee is because the Valor sails out of Miami while the Costa sails out of Ft. Lauderdale.
