If not who does cruise out of Houston? I'm looking for a 5 night cruise that starts in the middle of the week, not sure if there is such an animal, but trying to save some vacation time at work and some of my sons absence days from school for 2009
Carnival doesn't cruise out of Houston, Galveston would be the next closest departure port. Ecstasy is doing 4 and 5 day cruises, and Conquest is doing 7 day cruises from the port of Galveston.
Not sure if other cruise lines serve Houston, I'd recommend checking the port's website.
Best of luck with your planning!

Galveston is basically Houston, it is less than an hour drive, but that is where the ships leave out of, not "Houston" proper. (I am a Houstonian by the way). Carnival has both 7 and 5 day trips out of here and RCL I think also has the same. 4 options if I am not mistaken. I'm not aware of anyone else who does though.

thanks!
Yes as mentioned from Galveston. You can get a Thursday departure on the Ecstasy, that way he wouldn't miss the entire week of school.
Good idea.

At this time, Port of Houston doesn't have any type of contract in place with a cruise line. The facility is 80% completed, so it is a wait and see situation.

I keep waiting on some word from Houston that some cruiseline has taken the bait and will sail out of Houston. Last I heard it was supposed to be finished in March 08, I guess they are not hurrying to finish when no cruiseline has signed up.
build it and they will come, didnt pan out so far?
We can only hope there is a ship in Houston soon. And the sooner the better. I know I would book. I would love to see Princess or a European group such as MSC.

Snoozeman, wouldn't that be nice. I would like to see some longer itineraries, that would venture a little further than Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cozumel. I'll continue to book the W. Caribbean, but I would also book something different!
I'm READY!

Yes I agree. That would be so nice!
That's what lines like MSC usually do. Ten days or so. Costa Rica, Panama, etc.. That's why I have hopes for someone like them in Houston sometime in the future. With the Euro strong Europeans are wanting to sail from the USA.
