Default WE ARE BACK!!!! BOOKED THE ELATION, GONE AND BACK!

So I decided to call Carnival this morning to check about this unique 6-day sailing to Baja and what do you know, they offered me a returning guest resident rate that was too hard to pass up. I booked an inside cabin for the 2 of us for a total $692, taxes, port charges and fuel supplement included. That's cheaper than staying home.

We are packing and we are out of here in like 4 hours.

Will be back next Thursday, February 14th.

See you all next week!

Good deal Captain,,,however that's more than the $50 per day, per person that you said you never exceed!
I know you'll have a great time aboard "Elation".

Captain, do you have to call to get these last minute fares you get? I was just looking around for some upcoming cruises, just some little 3 or 4 day cruises out of San Diego area and have looked on the Carnival site for last minute fares and did not see any. i went to the past guest area, which didn't seem to have any better pricing either. What can you offer for suggestions? I would have to call?

DENcruise,
I always hit all the cruiselines' websites on a daily basis, day in, day out to check for any last minute deal. I have had the most luck with Carnival, Princess and NCL. They do seem to adjust their prices more than one a day. It does not happen on a daily basis, (Boy, do I wish that) but once in a while you do hit the jackpot and come across a great deal. I also use vacationstogo, travelzoo, cruises-n-more, cruisevaluecenter, 7blueseas, vacationoutlet and cruisecompete. I search all these sites on a daily basis, it's my breakfast ritual so to speak. I have booked directly with the cruiselines and also thru many online agencies, I really do not have any allegiance to any one particular agency. The thing that you also have to keep in mind: In our case we are not set on going on any particular itinerary, we find something that's $50 daily per person daily (including port charges) or less, we book it and we're on our way. Also remember tha last-minute airfares can be easier said than done but it does happen too and when it comes together, what a sweet deal it is! Just keep an open mind about it, if it does not happen at the pruce point we want, we just wait it out, eventually another heavily-discounted cruise WILL come along..........it always has for us......during the last 5 years or so we have only cruised last minute.
Here's a link to a post of mine showing what we paid for our last 7 cruises:

www.cruisemates.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=590502

I hope you find the above info useful and, good luck.

Thanks Captain

Luckily I work for an airline so i can fly for free. Living in Denver, if i find something in San Diego, or LA, we have several flights a day to those places so i am sure to make it on one of them.

I will keep my eye out, thanks again for all the info.

Hi Troy,
You work for an airline?!! That's even better, then! If you see something you like, call the cruiseline directly and ask them for the INTERLINE rate.
It may not be available on EVERY sailing but I know for a fact that Carnival offers an INTERLINE rate regularly on many of their cruises. The INTERLINE rate is generally speaking the lowest rate, even lower than last-minute promotional pricing. You would need to fax or email Carnival verification of your airline employment and get ready for some awesome deals!
I wish you the best of luck and plenty of opportunities for cruising at that fabulous interline rate, Troy.

Thanks Captain!
I will give them a call this week and see what type of deal i can get on some cruises. Hopefully they will have single rates discounted also. I have heard of interline but i have never really checked it out. I know we can get deals on most of the other airlines also. (all of this is of course stand-by and all paying customers have much higher priority). Living in the middle of the states is only a 2-4 hour flight away from a cruise!
