Default back from first cruise and NEVER AGAIN!!!

That's right, never again will we ever be content with a land based vacation. In the words of one poster here we are now hopelessly, gloriously, hooked!
I want to thank each fellow cruisemate who have patiently answered all of our dumb questions and gave us advice that helped us along.
We sailed on the Holiday out of Mobile, and just got back home today and can't wait to book another cruise!
We loved the Holiday and thought she was a great ship. I can't believe how friendly the crew and even total strangers were. The stateroom we had (M107) was bigger than I thought it would be. The food was good and we enjoyed the shows we were able to watch. I think we probably tried to do too much cause we are really really tired now.
Embarking/disembarking at Mobile was very easy and the workers there were excellent!
I would highly recommend the Holiday to anyone contemplating a cruise, especially a first cruise like us.
If you have any questions, just ask and we will try to answer. They did have a new cruise director, Jacques De Lange. The only time we saw him was at the disembarkation talk, but he was very funny.

Glad you had such a good time. It has gotten to the point that almost all our vacations are cruises now. Land vacations just can't stand up to the fun and relaxation we have when we cruise.

Beware, you will soon go into cruise withdrawal. The only cure for that is to book another cruise.

Priscilla has already came in here to check on me to make sure I wasn't trying to book another cruise without discussing the details with her first. Would I do such a thing?

Glad you enjoyed your first cruise. It will only get better. Lots of different things to keep it interesting. Newer and larger ships, longer trips, different ports of call...... ENJOY!!!

I was all ready to offer my condolences and to suggest you try another cruise before you say never again.

I am sooooooooo glad you had such a nice time. Definitely book another one as soon as possible. It is the only thing to chase away the post-cruise blues.

Glad you had a great time. Our very first cruise was also on the Holiday, but it was then sailing out of New Orleans. You will definately want to try different itineraries and ships on your future voyages, but there is just nothing like "the first time" is there?

I'm glad you enjoyed the Holiday. We have been thinking about booking it but were skeptical because of the age of the ship. We have been on the mega cruise ships and I just luv them, but we heard there were always friendly, fun people sailing from Mobile - so we may just give it a whirl. Did you find the ship run down at all? How about deck space? Was it crowded?

My husband & I just booked the NCL Spirit that sails from New Orleans for Jan 09 and can't wait to go. We are cruise addicts too.

Hey sistagoldenhair!

We had a blast on the Holiday! Deck space seemed plentiful to us. the pools are very small, so we didn't use them. They do have a couple of whirlpools that usually weren't crowded.
She didn't seem run down to us at all. The crew was constantly cleaning and even doing some outside painting while we were on it. I am looking to book our second cruise now and am considering another cruise on the Holiday.
The dining room and the buffet food was very good. No complaints at all.
The only thing to consider is that you do feel movement on the ship, but neither of us got seasick.
I think the Holiday would be a great cruise for anyone.

Papa, I (we) were on the same cruise, just across the ship from you (in M106)!

To everyone else, the Holiday is still a great ship and the crew was wonderful. Jacques the new (temporary) cruise director was one of the best!

Papa2cool, isn't it wonderful to remember the fun you had. Just budget yourself and keep going back. I am thrilled that ya'll really had a great time. Makes you wonder what these naysayers were doing when they give such bad reviews.

Welcome to your new addiction
Cruising is really the best vacation there is, doesn't matter if it's 4 days or longer, it's all good!

I have sailed on the Holiday when she sailed from New Orleans, at Thanksgiving time, when the ship was FULL of families with children. Even then I didn't find anything wrong with the Holiday. There was plenty of room for everyone. I think I would actually prefer the smaller ship because you do get more personal attention from the staff.

Papa, my wife and I were onm that cruise, in M101! It was our honeymoon, and we had a blast. She was a cruise newbie, too, and she is completely hooked on going a lot more.

I loved the Holiday and anyone who is a little timid of it because it is old should go ahead and get on board. It is one of Carnvial's best values and with the ship headed for a new owner in 2009 (supposedly) it will be soon be something you can't do anymore. You will wish you had.

The group on board whose fellas reminded me of Larry the Cable Guy were fun and definitely enjoyed themselves. That was not you, was it? I was the guy who lost Battle of the Sexes becasue I could not out-belch a woman. I feel the shame to this day. My wife adored every moment of it.
