Old San Juan

Has anyone been to San Juan when the ship docks at 5PM as mine will ? Will the shops in Old San Juan still be opened ?

When we were there last year we also got there at 5 and
yes the stores were open .
Matter a fact we took a tour first then went shopping.
So they must stay open for all the ships .

Nancy, many ships get to San Juan late in the afternoon, I remember the last time we were there we arrived around 4pm. If you plan on visiting the fort (El Morro), make sure you head there FIRST as it closes at 5pm.
Then you can wander around old town, enjoying the cobbled narrow streets as you make your way back to the pier. Stop and have a look at the Governor's Mansion on your way down back to the ship. Shops are open late and there is also a flea market down by the cruisehip terminal that is open till late at night.

I think they stayed open till around 8-8:30...Most ships dock in Old San Juan, and you just get off the ship and walk to the shopping, the Hard Rock, blink and you will miss it;) and the craft fair is right by the fountain....If you have time take a tour odf the city, it's a beautiful pastel, city, with so much charm....

San Juan is a wonderful place: We stayed there last July for 5 nights and went to Old San Juan every day. The people were friendly and it was historically wonderful to see. We saw a healing service in the downtown Catholic Church where Jennifer Lopez and Mark Anthony got married. The church is too beautiful too miss...
