our stateroom (holiday - 3-6) is still TBA...is that a good thing? How can we beg our way to a suite as an upgrade? any secrets?

Not really. It just means they can put you in any inside cabin on the ship. You could get "upgraded" to another cabin on any deck. Probably to another inside cabin, but the "upgrade fairy" could pay you a visit, and get you moved to a cabin with a window.
as Kuki said, IS is inside. Possible inside to inside upgrade from Riviera Deck to Main, Upper or Empress deck.....insie to inside to me means nothing........highly unlikely you'll be upgraded to an oceanview but nothing wrong with an inside, that is what we always book and take our chances.
As for your original question of upgrading to a suite, how lucky do you feel?
Not messing with you. You booked a cabin category with a chance of an upgrade. If you want to guarantee you get upgraded you have to upgrade yourself with your wallet... and pay for it.
Otherwise you take your chances... but the good news is no matter what cabin you get it's on the ship.
true!
we called a couple of weeks ago to ask why it hadn't been assigned and all they said was, "that's a good thing"...so here's hoping it's a good thing!
OH WHERE, OH WHERE IS THE UPGRADE FAIRY? IS THERE AN UPGRADE FAIRY DANCE WE CAN DO... ACTUALLY I BOOKED YESTERDAY AND ALREADY HAVE A CABIN NUMBER SO DOES THAT MEAN NO UPGRADE?
Bamagal,
Just ignore what Kuki has to say, the guy don't know Jack about cruising! lmao lol
But seriously, don't give it too much thought or worry, as long as you are on the ship, you'll be fine! If it happens, it happens, if not, there's always a next time. Spend your money on something to do ashore. If you have your booking # you can go online www.carnival.com, no need to call Carnival, you enter your booking number and other booking info. I believe the date of sailing and it will show you a cabin # if one has been assigned to you. If it shows you a cabin #, tell us what it is (if you feel comfy doing that) and we will tell you what kind of cabin you got. Any questions, just ask, we all LOVE to share our knowledge and love of cruising and hopefully you will get as addicated as we are to it.
Btw, I noticed you only signed up today, so welcome to CruiseMates.
As for Kuki, he's the head honcho around here!
And finally, the million dollar question: Are you from Alabama or are you an Obama fan ? Which one is it?
ha! thanks for the welcome...i guess i've been reading since december when we booked but just got brave enough to post....
and yep, bama born and bred...btw, know how to keep auburn fans from voting for obama? put a 'g' in front of his name!! rooollll tide!
If you were looking toupgrade to a suite on Holiday, do not hold any great hope as there are precious few suites on the ship. I wanted one for our honeymoon - and was willing to pay - but they were booked out. I wonder if the suites on Hoilday book first since there are so few, and the price for the cruise is so good?
Enjoy!

We booked our suite for July this past month..there was only one left that did not have an obstructed view.
We have 5 in our family(me, DH, DS18, DS15 & DD13) it cost us alittle over $4000...with it being 374 sqft and the balcony is 87sqft... I was wondering how it would sleep 5...L shape sofa pulls out to sleep2, king size bed for 2 and they bring in a roll away cot for 1...
I'm thinkin I will not see the kiddos until bed time so I'm not worried with it being crowded...all I wanted was the balcony
Sorry.. as you can tell I'm alittle long winded but I hardly come across anyone that talks or has even stayed in Holidays suites or balconies...
