I do not know a lot about the hotels in Long Beach. I can tell you where not to stay. We made the huge mistake of booking on the Queen Mary. This was by far the dirtiest place we have ever stayed. We thought it might be great to stay on that historic ship and enjoy the history. I really think the ship and it's wonderful history should be preserved as a museum. The owners should close the hotel portion of it.

I would agree with the Captain, the Coast Long Beach Hotel is the best place to stay in Long Beach. We stayed there twice, the last time just prior to our Mexican Riviera cruise on the Vision OTS. It's walking distance to the Queen Mary where you can have a good meal, and take the tour. I wouldn't stay in the Queen Mary Hotel, but the restaurants and the tour are great. Right next to the Queen Mary is a Soviet submarine from the Cold War also available to tour. (A casualty of the break-up of the Soviet Union and the selling off of old Soviet hardware for much needed cash by the Russians.)

The Coast Long Beach Hotel is a really nice hotel to stay in and about a $25 cab ride to the Long Beach pier.
