Default Planning ahead. PARKING IN NOLA

Now for planning purposes please anyone in the know come up with the best parking arrangement. We plan to drive our car for the trip from Florida to NOLA but we need a place to park. Does the Pier have a parking spot? I have gone to the WEB but most are confusing. We would love to have a local opinion. Remember this will be for Feburary 2009.

Waiting!!!

Ray ..

If you look at the thread in the link below Phil has information for a hotel in NOLA that is offering parking for $5/day. Doesnt seem you are going to get better than that.

Ray there is also the Marriott Convention Center, they run cruise specials too. It's a little more upscale, the parking is valet and very secure, but it is more expensive and does not include Breakfast. So six of one, half dozen of the other. If memory serves me I think I paid $199 a night at the Marriott last year, but it included my parking for a week while we were gine on the cruise. It is right across the street from the Convention Center and very close to the port. Very close to the River WAlk. You can also opt to stay at the Hilton and then park at the Erato Street Terminal, which I cannot be sure but thought it was $12 per day.

Hampton Inn in Metairie has free parking and free breakfast. I am not sure how much the room is, because I booked with hhonors points. They told me they have a parking garage with security cameras and you can leave your car there during the cruise at no extra charge. It is about 6 miles west of New Orleans city center and has a free shuttle that goes to the French Quarter at 10:30 am. Not sure if we can talk them into taking us all the way to the pier or not. Of course, you would have to take a cab back to the hotel after the cruise.

Parking at hotels in New Orleans varies from free to as much at $25 per day. The Erato St terminal is $14 per day and is very easy to get to.

You can also check out www.nocruiseshipparking.com They charge $12 a day and are located about 1.5 miles from the port. You can also park your car the night before and they will shuttle you to your hotel and then pick you up in the morning.
