Half Moon Cay Cabana Rentals

I heard there were only about 20 cabanas available for rent on Half Moon Cay. Sadly, we also heard that we have to rent them at the excursion desk upon boarding the ship. Anyone have any tricks up their sleeve on how to rent one in advance? So far it's been a dead end for us...

What are the odds of securing one when we board the ship?

We were just there in January.

No, you can not rent them before getting onboard the ship. What our friends did was make sure they were onboard as early as possible and they went STRAIGHT to the Shore Excursion desk.

On our cruise, they did not rent all of them out. It truly depends on the time of year you are going.

I believe it was $219.00 for all day. (includes soda, water and snacks)
Also includes floats. You don't want one to close to the action, since folks have been known to "borrow" your floats etc...

I believe they had #7 which was a good spot. They were allowed to "pick" which one they wanted. (This was on the Imagination). I am not sure how other ships handle it.

What time should I plan to be on board in order to make a beeline to book the excursion? And does that mean arrive at the ship at that time or I should have made it through the check in line by that time? (FYI- I think the ship leaves at 1:00.)

I need a cruise training class!

Imagination - 5 Day Eastern Carribean out of Miami.

Usually ship sails about 4 pm. No need to be at the port before 11 AM.

We just did this cruise. This was the one our friend did indeed get the Cabana for.

He was at the port at 11AM and onboard the ship by 12:30pm ( if I am remembering correctly) He went straight to the Shore Excursion desk as soon as he boarded and it was open. He got his cabana!!!

The ship does sail at 4pm. Boarding generally starts around noon.

Great ship....great ports...lots of fun!!

Things must have changed since we rented them online in 2005..that's too bad to have to worry about, possibly trying to get there in time, along with many others I am sure, to enjoy one..:(:(

I "think" ( I know a dangerous thing for me to do) that HAL does still allow folks to book them on-line...but Carnival does not.
