I'll get the ball rolling, maybe we can keep this thread alive for the benefit of other would-be cruisers so that they know which cabins to avoid. So any cruisers out there with any info to contribute, please pitch in. Thanks
Stay away from cabin M259 on the Paradise (this cabin exhibits all sorts of mechanical noises and weird "howling"
I think one can find problems with almost every cabin on a ship - some because they are close to crew ladders, some because they are under the disco, etc.
Me, I am just happy to be in a cabin on a cruise.
BTW - I had cabin M262 on one cruise on the Smokefree Paradise and loved it. Despite the fact that the cabin was immediately above the engines and props, I got a vibrating bed for free.

I don't think this needs to be a picky thread, but an informative thread. I am sure there are rooms that are particularly noisy or have a obstructive veiw. I think this would be very informative for some of us who have not cruised much. Thank you in advance for any constructive info for the rest of us who are interested.

MTSFP,
If a free vibrating bed is what you desire, then cabin 7163 on the Carnival Spirit is for you. This cabin has an ice-maker bolted back to back on bed's headboard wall! The bed shakes 24/7 and when the machine is dumping ice in the hopper, your body gets quite the workout!
Btw, the Paradise has NOT been smoke-free since at least December 2004
So in a nutshell, guys, stay far, far away from cabin 7163 on the Carnival Spirit
I will add. Any cabin under the Pool area. Even though the pools close around 11 (I believe) you will hear crew members dragging around the big plastic lounge chairs all hours of the night while they clean. It did get pretty aggravating.

i've been lucky but by for my favorite spot has been the "bowels" of the ship...the only noise i heard was a slight hum from the engines and it was so peaceful i'm always afraid of the rooms that arent above and below other rooms. My first cruise i was below the pool area tho, and it was pretty quiet...
The lovely Mrs. Jones (Vita) and I were in M2206 aboard "Glory" and it was the noisiest cabin we ever sailed in. All kinds of machinery noise 24X7, as well as the expected anchor drop when arriving at a tendered port. Did we make the best of it and enjoy the cruise anyway? Bet your @ss we did.
On the Triumph (and I suppose sister ships) stay away from 1368. That cabin is directly above the glass recycling area and you will get an automatic wakeup call every AM at 7 to the sound of breaking glass.
Stay away from 2266 on the Valor - Not sure what is above (Not a stateroom) but its very loud with pepole talking.

Several years ago, there were posts going around that there was a cerrtain cabin that was last to be booked..I am racking my brain trying to remember... I want to say it was under or over the disco...:(
There were many people who had booked this cabin who were not happy cruisers:(

You know... I can't recall hearing anything at all in my cabin. I can't recall exact # at the moment, but it was upper deck cat 11 on the Paradise.
Once in a while I could feel the ship moving, I had to get up and check just to make sure our ship was still doing what it was supposed to be doing (staying on top of water)
first time cruiser...

Captain
Actually, we sailed on the last Caribbean cruise of the Smokefree Paradise in August 2004, before she went through the Panama Canal and became contaminated.
Our M262 was on our second cruise - we booked a 4A guarantee and ended up with a 6B cabin

On the Carnival Freedom, staff have the rooms under the disco. We know this fact because we have good friends who are entertainers - they would never even try to go to sleep until after 3AM because of the noise.

This is one of the perils to booking the lower category guaranteed cabins. Every Carnival ship has cabins that are known as "night owl" cabins. These are the cabins that are subject to noise from the late night venues. They are also the last cabins that Carnival books in any category. Therefore, if you are given an upgrade, there is a chance that you actually getting a night owl cabin.
I live in NYC and noise does not disturb my sleep (alcohol-induced). However, my cabin 2105 on the Destiny was pretty noisy with the anchor going down every morning. It is a windowed cat 1A.

Cabin 6276 on the Conquest was very noisey!! It would probably be the same on any Conquest Class ship. You could always hear the dinging of the 9 elevators, people yelling while waiting on the elevator, the late night lobby music (which was not too bad), etc etc. Stay far far away from the Atrium elevators when booking Conquest cabins, especially those near 6276. Cabins further forward (ie 6266 & 6268) would be fine.

Holiday U64 it creaked and popped all most all night.
We were on upper deck of the Holiday and our cabin creaked all night and we never got any rest, especially our daughter who slept in the bunk. The Paradise also was noisey back in 2004 for her graduation cruise. This time we are bringing a noise machine to counter act any noises on the Victory

Victory 6281 ... We were in what would be 6279 (the cabin right beside yours) on that side of the ship. See my post a few above this one. You will be able to hear the *ding* of the elevators very well, people talking and yelling while waiting on the elevators, and noise from the atrium bar area. If you can switch I would!
Victory 9226 ... That will be a great cabin!! There are cabins above and below it. It is high up which will give you great views, and easy access to the pool area without using stairs!!

Yes, it does appear that the aft pool area is above your cabin. Some people complain about the sound of deck chairs being moved by the crew early in the morning.
As always, it is best to find a cabin that has a cabin above and below it. Of course, you may have hell raisers above or below you, but taking a chance is better than having a club above you
Good luck!

Does anyone know anything about cabins on Freedom? We have booked 7316 and 7318 on Empress Deck. I thought this would be good because there are cabins above and below. I think they are quite near the elevators though. Hope that's not a problem!
Freedom Inside cabins 7316 & 7318 are in a great location and far enough away from elevators. You should really love this location in the middle of the ship!

Any info on Legend balcony 5167? It looks like the lifeboat is below us but the lift mechanism might be blocking half the balcony. Will we be able to use all the floor space?
